Adding the QP-1 to the Tinkerboard this has lowered the noise floor, given a greater sense of realism. I got the usual increase in dynamics, soundstage and depth. Apart from having the Topping heavily modified in the future, I think that it for me with regards to big changes to the system

The D70 can be made to really sound very decent no problem, have thus far completed six of them including a serious transplant lol

Heavily modified?? What do you want to do with it? Separate power rails a better clock perhaps separate the power supply from the DAC

I had the pleasure of a quick demo of John's new system - first time I have heard it since the new Tinker front end and Temple monos arrived and it's a serious step up in my opinion. Transparency, detail and resolution are the main winners but it's not harsh, more warmth than I would have expected actually! One of those almost palpable, walk in soundstages and sounded exceptional with a slice of Dream Theater that John chose - please remind me of the track John ... I think John should be well pleased with his efforts and is now in position to relax, sit back and enjoy the tunes.

I'm so glad you've left the problems with your previous two streamers behind, John.

Yes good to have stability again To be honest I think the more important upgrades have been the extra Beyma drivers they help with the treble but I still have that mid punch and attack of the PRV drivers that I enjoy I also really love the Temple Monos with the Superchargers I still suffer a bit with factory noise on the mains but it's a lot less disruptive to my listening experience and whilst I know it's there during the week it no longer irritates

Don't worry about a little factory noise John, it goes with the 'industrial' look of your speakers!

A few minor accessories added 2 USB cleaners added to the Tinkerboard I now have all the USB inputs with some kind of USB audio cleaner on it Pagana USB Cable to the reclocker and Audioquest Carbon to the DAC SR orange fuse to the cable to the Furetech e-TP60E Mains conditioner They have all added to the overall sound increasing depth, detail and flow.

I been reflecting on the changes to my system over the last 10 years At that time I think I had the Silverline SR17 a Nu Vista 3d CD player heavily modified by Audiocom So what has been the biggest changes over that time in terms in how I listen to music and the gear I use.
I guess my musical tastes widely expanded Getting into a lot of music I could of never imagined Over the last few years this has only widened and being able to stream music has opened my ears to Modern Cello music and contemporary classical music as well as discovering artists within music I am more used to
In terms of gear they were several big moves
I guess I was a early convert to computer audio I tried many different ways of computer audio from windows PC using Jplay and BugHead to the pi and various streamers Moving from the Wharfedale Opus 3 to Hawthorne Duets Open Baffles speakers to a totally baffle-less design that I would of never imagined working
I have no idea what the next 10 years will bring

I agree that streaming has widened my musical horizons tremendously. The decision whether to buy or not to buy something has become irrelevant. I can just try anything I like. It's very liberating.

I couldn't agree more, and the whole collecting / pride of ownership thing goes out the window with streaming. I have found that entirely liberating.
