The bass lines, drumming, lead guitar and Lord's superb keyboards are all present and correct on Made in Japan. What a cracking live album.

I have been listening to the system during the week and I am not noticing any drop off in sound quality, in fact, it feels like another level of openness in terms of soundstage, depth, detail and bass definition has developed. When I had the trail mains distributor this was built to a higher standard but to be honest I am hearing more insight from this setup. There are two variations from the first time 1 I am using better cables My own and one Tony built for me 2 I have moved my mains silencer plug onto the same socket which is run on its own spur to the consumer unit as one inlet is now spare so can be used on the same spur. Tony did also tell me the unit will improve in sound quality over time and this has been my experience

That's good news, John. Having heavy industry competing for your power is not easily countered, so if the filter is keeping things more consistent then it's a great outcome.

Yes been it has been quite a few years trying to solve this issue I learnt the more my system has opened up, the more it is has been likely to suffer from mains borne issues. I actually thought a few years ago I had it sussed, but only to experience the issue again when my system opened up more For the last 6 months this has been driving me crazy as I know how good my system could be. For the last few weeks, I actually was not listening to music during the week as would find it so frustrating and I just do not want to experience that anymore. Martin You know that in the past I would describe my bass as punching me in the gut but would not shake the floor. Well now it can also shake the floor As I say music for me as well as being a listening experience is also a bogy based experience

Hah - you'll need a new gesture to describe the floor-shaking variety!

A hammer hitting the floor Listening today I am struck with how natural and realistic it all sounds

As the system opens up to new sounds there could be sideways or maybe even what seem as backward steps. Especially with your rotten, polluted mains feed

Had that issue in the past Mike and its taken many years to finally have seemed to find a effective solution The system is the most balanced I have ever heard it and feel a bit like you around saying how much joy it's bringing me It has a different balance to your system Mike I am not sure I can give you a reference point with a similar sounding system let's just say it knows how to do rock music real justice but now does landscape and acoustic music with a equal sense of realism

Be good to capture exactly how the system sounded at various stages and play back for comparison.
Comparing this system to how it was even this January would be telling.
Settling in is quite something, whatever is happening The best could be yet to come from exactly what you have now

It not possible to go back I had to change all the plugs to Shuko for the mains distribution unit To be honest I actually don't enjoy tweaking and making micro adjustments These days I just want to relax as deeply into the music as I can

Agreed on the twiddling. Give me the music. Going backwards would be nice to underline how far we have come. For system settling a magic wand required

Thirded. When I've got things running nicely I just want to carry on listening, not spend time setting up a new build of Volumio.
Saying that, it gets easier to set up as time goes on. Less twiddle, more music.

The unit completely settled in now The best way of describing the change is like adding a supercharger to a car engine It gives a sense of effortless scale that is present on the systems I like the most

Added Black Ravioli sticky pads to all my equipment now A bit more depth and still more impact. I had to lower the bass a bit which sometimes happens when I make alterations.

Your driver mods may well correct excess bass, John.

Yes, it will be interesting to see what will happen. Just to let people know I am planning to have my speakers go totally suspended A bit like this but without the extra drivers www.trans-fi.com/my-system

I am hoping my new hub arrives today and that I have no issues setting up my network player At the moment I am using a laptop just running off the battery It sounds better than I could of imagined it but still just a bit of treble harshness I tend to be quite fusy about treble so hopefully a better transport will solve this I might have to adapt my linear power supply to the hub as not sure of voltage and connections

Well some major system changes First new frames the drivers are totally independent in terms of isolation New DAC Now got the Topping D70 Unfortunately the SOtM Ultra Neo will not work with the DAC New Network player but unable to stream from my Internet Hopefully will get a fix for this or will head in same direction as Martin Intially sound more open but a few issues to address around treble and low mid
Actions 1 Change cables 2 Re-order equipment on rack 3 Tidy-up cables ensure no cross talk 4 Place Beldin distribution block away from cables 5 Add 2 Ifi USB silencer to the USB cable Tried 1 first but low muds upper bass lacking body Added second and body now back to what I expect With the Black Cats system a bit more open but they add a touch of harshness The Bastanis not quite as open but better balance in sound
