Thanks to Martin's Money tips I saw that Amazon have a credit card that gives cash back.
I'm sure a lot of us buy from Amazon. Might as well let them give some dough back.
Cash back credit cards seem very rare these days. American Express do a good deal but hardly anyone takes it

I prefer the American Express Nectar card. It gains points very quickly on all my purchases and I tend to use them on eBay.

I had American Express some years ago. Great cash back but was useless for me with so many places refusing it

Big change then. It was almost like a script when I presented it. No we don't take it How long have you had yours?

Member since 86. I've had a green, gold, platinum and black one. Now on a Nectar one, which makes a lot more sense.

'American Express? - that'll do nicely and would you like to rub my tits?',
Interesting thread title. Perhaps - 'not haemorrhaging as much money to Amazon' would be more appropriate!

The AA sent me a reminder for £198 and as usual I can get membership cheaper if I was a new punter. Looks like £129 I was going to haggle but before I do does anyone recommend any of the others ? Green Flag is way less money

Green Flag is way less money I use RAC and have always been happy with them, they always keep the price around the same as the previous year so I don't have to bother haggling with them.

I've used Green Flag and they're very good. They do what it says on the tin and don't purport to represent the motorist but end up going against them.

Heard from 2 or 3 people that the RAC are keen to sell you a battery, when you don't need one. Apparently their guys are on commision
Do you have Green Flag every year Martin ? Been with them long ?

I've been with Green Flag for about 14 years and had cause to use them a few times. No complaints and good value for money.

Green Flag is way less money Green Flag are offering a deal of half the price of the equivalent cover of the AA or RAC. Good offer methinks.

I've been with something called Autoaid for 25+ years, as has my dad. Interesting alternative offering..

To be honest though, if they said I needed a new battery I'd likely say thank you very much and go elsewhere.

Back in the good old days a bunch of us were at a track day at Cadwell park. Pal of mine messed up Hall Bends and put it in the wall. Caterham a wreck. Green Flag recovered car and him home no quibble. Bet they don't do that anymore though.
Another story, I had RAC for a couple of years for the Caterham) Blow out on A1(m), no spare (it doesn't have one). RAC failed to send a recovery vehicle out in 3 hours of waiting! Ended up getting a trailer home with a fellow Caterham guy and drove his car back! He really went out of his way to help me. Not so the RAC!

On the topic of credit cards, Halifax Clarity is excellent for foreign currency. No fx fees at all, Mastercard exchange rate, pay interest as soon as balance in debit but you can pay off by bank transfer immediately. I saved about £60 in fees last year.

Rang The AA to quibble over the price and likely tell them to lump it.
Surprised to hear them match the online price but not only that they will keep it running next year and after that. £75 to me thank you !
