Mr Brook has sent me one fitted with Furutech plugs and screened cable to try. I can't tell you exactly what it is, as it is over-braided. It is pretty chunky.

My listening tests are going to be on the lead feeding my system only. A package has arrived, and I am a mains lead short of being able to do a test on the power amp(s). If I am honest, I am not overly keen on the "Firebottle Mono" plaque, but I am buying these with my ears and not my eyes. They sound superb...

Of course sound is most important but agreed on the badge design - I don't know why the logos couldn't have been done in the more discreet style of the KIN ...

The plaque is there to cover up the hole and printing for the volume control. It is a minor point for me, as they really do punch well above their price tag.

It's one made by David for me James , like Kevin I can't see which cable he's using as it's covered in a very nice braid . Sounds excellent .

Decided to upgrade a few fuses to test to see if I could determine any improvement on SQ . Initially I have just bought a few AMR Gold fuses and installed both 3amp and 13amp on mains leads and also the mains block feeder lead. At the same time I decided to change the fuse on my Cambridge CXC transport again using AMR Gold this time a 20x5 2amp fuse . I have located the fuse in the transport and confirmed it is 2A and a glass fuse marked up F2AL250V , checking the AMR fuse although 2A and similar size with ceramic body the marking is a little different and states T2AH250V ? just wanted confirmation if any one can help that it is ok to use obviously it is 2amp but not sure what the differences are and if it is safe to use.

T2AH250V is a slow blow fuse. F2AL250V is a fast blow fuse. Some more info here - link

The " T" would indicate slow-blow and the " F" is used for fast-blow in the prefix. I should imagine you're at least safe replacing a slow-blow fuse with a fast blow, but not vice-cersa. Google is your friend.

Thanks Guys will do some more research not as simple as I first thought found another couple of fuses in the transport , may play it safe and just stick to the upgrading the fuses in the leads .Also concerned that although one fuse is rated at 2A and slow blow the fuse currently used is low breaking (L) whereas mine the AMR is (H) high breaking , not sure what implications this could have ? Think on reflection may leave alone.

If you aren't competent to know what you are doing, don't do it!
(No insult implied - I'm not competent with electrics either, and I don't swap internal fuses, just mains leads and blocks with standard 13A fuses.)

Yes good point totally agree I had come to the same conclusion to be honest, just thought it was a simple job of replacing the correct amp fuse. Just closed up the transport and will leave alone.

Just doing some listening with and without the upgraded mains cable feeding my regenerator at the moment. I hate to admit it, but I think that the upgraded mains cable helps to open up the sound a little more.
I always thought that the system sounds good on a kettle klead from Amazon, but the fancy mains lead improves it. switching back to the basic lead from the upgraded cable, and it all sounds rather flat. I can't explain it, and my expectation was it would not make a difference and that the lead would get sent back.
I will have a bit more time tomorrow to try a back to back tomorrow before I decide what I am doing with the cable...

Good outcome, Wonky. It goes to the theory that everything counts in power provision and that there is no such thing as a perfect regenerator (or perfect PSU, for that matter).

It would be nice if good mains leads didn't work - would save some of us money !

Fuses are a nightmare, I always use ceramic sand filled fuses never glass, I have had to many glass ones chatter. Failing that use a Semi Conductor fuse I love the 1000A one they never blow. Big Bang Fuses
