Did you explore Isotek? They definitely do Schuko distribution strips from the Polaris upwards. Yes, but £450 for a mains block is a bit steep. For that, I would be tempted to make my own up and cable it up with decent cable. I am thinking more of £150 to £200, and if secondhand, my money gets me a "better" product. I will try it against a bog standard mains block to see if it does make a difference, and if not, I will sell it on if second hand.

When I was active on PFM many moons ago, there was a mains block that loads of the guys used and swore by it, it only cost £60-70 or so. If only I could remember the name of it.

We use similar UK rack mount strips for our servers at work.

I am currently using a French version one of these. I am looking at ditching the noise filter. I also don't think I need the surge protector as it will be connected to the AG1500. I was actually thinking about one of these Here. No switch or nasty interference causing light. Surely this will be fine, and I could rewire it with a "decent cable" and plug, if I so desired. I actually have another mains block in the house without the noise filters, so I will swap it over and see if it makes any difference.

Use snap chokes and plug-in passive filters. They don't restrict current and do a good job of reducing noise around the house. Even your AG1500 will benefit, as does my P10.

I recounted in my blog that I found another rear panel fuse in my Ayre SACD player that had gone previously unnoticed until now. I replaced it with a 20mm 5A SR Red a few nights ago. This one again made a small but incremental improvement in clarity of CD replay. Another worthwhile and relatively inexpensive (and easy) mod.

Sounds good. I wonder how many of us have an extra internal fuse

Reminds me, there is an onboard fuse in the Caiman DACs. Must upgrade my SEG sometime.

My new mains cable should be arriving soon. When I have had a chance to have a listen, I will update this thread with my findings.

Reminds me, there is an onboard fuse in the Caiman DACs. Must upgrade my SEG sometime. I contacted Stan recently regarding changing the fuse to a hi fi tuning or similar and he suggested due to the SEG using an energy storage system designed to reduce noise he doubted the SEG would benefit from any upgrade . He did indicate however he has not tried an upgraded fuse in the SEG , does anyone have any other thoughts ?

Yes, I know Stan says that. If it were completely independent of power supply quality it wouldn't sound any different on battery compared with the mains power supply supplied with it. But it does sound better. Much better.

Interesting Martin I see your logic , doubt I can run to £90 for the SR Black but may try the AMR Gold which is available on EBay for around £11.
