Thanks for the response. I have a mains cable coming for the AG1500. I will be honest, and state now that I do not believe it will make a difference, but I want to find out for myself and I am open minded enough to try it. I will happily admit I am wrong if that turns out to be the reality. As mentioned in my post, I don't have any 13A fuses in the plugs as they are all Schuko. Wonky - I like your way of seeing things. I also have an AG1500, didn't fix any problems but showed me how lucky I was as having the most noise and interference free mains in the HiFi using world. It did make the sound the same regardless of the time of day. I have used the thought of - I hear people say this can improve the sound, show me what you can do. I've used that since ages back. It's my idea of being open minded, unlike many who tend to assume there will be an improvement and hear it.

unlike many who tend to assume there will be an improvement and hear it. Who? I see this stated many times and feel it needs challenging. Who are these 'many'? You, for instance, are happy to state that you bought something expensive and hear no difference. Why are these other people different, and who are they?

Fascinating that you heard no difference yet you have hung onto it Alan. Why's that? I think I should be moving it on lickety-split if it were me.

You demonstrate the degree to which people are different. Absolutley different. What on earth does lickety-split mean? I vaguely recall hearing it in the distance past but did not add it to my vocabulary

Challenging eh? I am sure you don't expect me to compile a list of humans. If you are interested just look at posts where folk say they expect to achieve an upgrade in their sound by doing this or that - expect. With respect to your comment about myself. How would I know something would not make a difference unless I try it. AG1500 are no the cost of the PS jobbies. How I spend my money is not your concern.

So if you want to get the best out of an AG1500 you should really run it off of an AG1500? Not as barking mad as it seems, I used to run an AG1500 from a BPS, the combo was good and better than either product in isolation.

The point I was trying to make is that I don't see this great wave of people defending bad products. Mostly, if someone doesn't hear a difference, they (like you) tend to say it straight. Taken another way, I tend to believe those who say they can hear a positive effect from their cable purchase. Regarding yourself, no offence was intended and I am not concerned with your spending. I'm just surprised that you didn't (as I would) try it first.

Any recommendations for a mains block? The Supra lorad block looks interesting, or is there a cheaper better alternative?

I bought a second-hand Russ Andrews block for under a hundred I think, one of the older models and very solidly built. It's the only piece of mains equipment I have tried in my system that I ended up keeping.

Yes as above. If it were Mei would jump on Ebay and pick up a Russ Andrews bargain.
edit: just had a look and there is not much on there under a grand, depends how patient you are

Does he do Schuko equipped blocks?
I have checked his website and seen that he does, but very little Schuko stuff on eBay. I will keep a look out.

Just think, if you go down the Schuko route, you never even have to think about upgrading a mains fuse. That is worth it in my mind right there. I went the Neutrik Powercon route, which is similar, now I have no fuses in my mains and I'm perfectly legal and above board.

I would have thought, although I don't know, that almost all mainstream manufacturers would do European plugs and sockets to be able to sell to a wider market, you might just have to email them.

I would go Schuko if I started again - mostly as I know what effect the fuse has on the sound

There is not much on eBay.fr from Russ Andrews. I am in no rush, so will take my time. My new monoblocks should be here next week, so that will keep me happy for quite a while.

Did you explore Isotek? They definitely do Schuko distribution strips from the Polaris upwards.
