Yes it is a good value upgrade. Helps clean the USB signal. A USB reclocker is suppossed to be even better but they cost a lot more Regan £175 to the PS Audio LanRover about £600 The iFi Audio iSilencer3.0 USB is also rated a bit better but cost about £10 more

I certainly agree John that timing with the HDPLEX power supply makes a huge contribution to the sound. It's not "messy" in any way, it's very ordered and rythmic.
I use a Regen, I found the iFi iUSBpower to be slighly better...but I have my name down for the John Westlake Detox which I should see the light of day in a month or two.

Please let me know how the detox goes Clive I have at some point to consider a good reclocker The other upgrade that made a nie difference when visiting Mike today was the Black Ravolli feet so something else to save up for

Most impressive hearing John's file system yesterday.
Clear, detailed, good frequency range from the top to the bottom. Sound quality for the money is exceptional.
Well done for putting that package together.

Cheers Mike has a great sounding system. Not often I hear big speakers that can lose themselves in the room I think a lot more in sound quality when using the NAD as intended rather than just a DAC but not enough power for your TADs Your TADS do great bass, clean deep and detailed.

John, have you tried Foobar with the setver and hdplex? I'm surprised to find Foobar much improved vs BH. BH has tighter bass and overall is smoother with slighter better depth. Foobar is is little more vivid but a touch tiring.
It's as though the new PS has helped de-jitter and this is what BH was doing so well before and Foobar has benefited more. I'm surprised that Foobar is now listenable vs BH, which previously it wasn't. BH is still better though.

I am just trying Foobar now. The difference is a lot smaller now. Foobar now very clean and detailed I am not finding it tiring yet. This is quite a suprise!
Ahh yes just started to notice a bit of edge. But gives a bit more of alive feel Very hard to seperate them now but no silly start up times and loading. This is a nice suprise

If you use rewrite data on the music files takes away the edge and gives a similar level of detail and bass response as BH

Thanks for the rewrite tip John, I'll do that. You're finding the same as I did,yes it is a surprise!

With rewrite I feel the bass is better but the slight edge is still there. The converse is that BH is a little laid back in comparison hence Foobar sounding more alive. Foobar might be worth using with instrumentals.

In mine the edge is gone. Worth checking what driver you using in Foobar I have Fiderlizer and Process Lazio software so maybe that is helping as well. I have some more listening in the week but so far Foobar might over take BH as my player as choice. A lot less processing going on the server is running quite cool with Foobar I send you a PDF file

but no silly start up times and loading This more than anything would stop me from ever using BH. I couldn't live with the nonsense process you were going through to get it to play music.

Yes it is a big draw back and been hoping to find something I could be happy with without the complex set up and start up times but same quality in sound I report later in the week if I am still happy with Foobar Really strange to be going back to something I long ago dismissed but I think what has happened is the server does not need to process so much to overcome what going on in the background of a computer I will also give a few other players a retry too! It be great if Jriver or Media Monkey will give the same result

Prefer foobar to Jriver more open with the subtle detail coming through better Using rewrite data is a must BH still has the edge in SQ but not by much and I am able to live with it for the convience

Are you using Fidelizer in Purist mode and are you using the free version or Pro?
