My custom made wooden Tannoy stands have definitely had an impact on the music.
I'm noticing a bit more 'openness' in the soundstage as the centre of the full-range driver is now at ear level. It also moves them a bit more away from impact of surrounding furniture in the corners of the room.
They are beautifully made and superb VFM, I must say. If anyone wants details of the seller just PM me ...

I have just broken my record price spent on a single lp, reaching three figures for the first time! The cd has been a permanent fixture on my car stereo for many years and have always wanted the rare vinyl. I bought it from an ebay seller in Germany and thankfully, after a nervous wait to get it on the deck, it's in the near mint condition that was described. The downside to this double lp is that it sounds like it was recorded and mixed by Mssrs Fisher & Price. But it's still my favourite live album - the atmosphere and energy is just fantastic. Of course it has all the Ozzy hits and also a few Sabbs songs; Ozzy and the band are in top form with Zakk Wylde at the peak of his Ozzy shredding power. The 'Black Sabbath' encore with Tony Iommi and Geezer Butler sends shivers down the old spine. Oh, and I've also got two free Ozzy tattoos with the album ...

Sounds great, Jules. I've never even come across the CD. Is it on Spotify?
Ooh, look...

Really looking forward to trying it.
If I feel that my Strat is still not quite metal enough with this combo I might try a hot rail in bridge position, but whilst I'm learning I don't think I will need any more kit ... Hopefully!

I not played with the Mini The reason why I moved from the Yamaha THR10 was that it lacked a bit of bass and I imagine a similar issue with the Mini

In terms of vfm it looked outstanding to me and I watched plenty of YouTube videos to get an idea of the tones on offer. It will take a bit of tweaking but I've got a pretty good idea of how to get the sound I'm after. The size is also important to me - just haven't got room for anything too chunky ...

Got a few new toys.
First up, a new SMSL Q5 remote was delivered today. Since the Q5 is a long term keeper, thought it would be best to have a backup for the seriously annoying and cranky old one. It's bigger than I thought it would be and is plastic of course, but feels nice enough in the hand and takes rechargeable batteries.

That SMSL remote is a big step up from the silly little silver thing we had with the Amp
