Aljazerra, again Had a programme on how the easy gun laws in the US make it perfect for Mexican drug cartels - in Mexico. Large amounts of arms seized have come from the US. ATF in the US have their hands tied to stop the arms trade. US is only interested in stopping Mexican and drugs coming *in* Don't give a toss about assault weapons going the *out*
One state in Mexico has a major problem as 2 opposing drug cartels are often involved in shootouts. Civilians and police killed in cross fire.
I know Mexico as one of the world's most dangerous countries. How much is down to the US gun laws ?

Just look into the Coke pilots that used to fly Coke into the states then arms back out. Tom Cruise plays one in his recent movie - Barry Seal. A better read is Max Mermelsteins book,my life as a Coke pilot. The guns, drugs and money figures are just staggering.
Interestingly enough Mexico is worse as the cartels have adopted a different business model and moved on from how the drugs trade was run. A lots down to easy access to weapons that's for sure but there's a bit more to it than that.

Doubt we could ever know what difference it makes. Can't help.
The vast amount of dough means it is all but unstoppable

Watch The Counsellor if you want to see a chilling tale of getting on the wrong side of a Mexican cartel.

...and he reached only about 10% of the altitude required to see the Earth's curvature. He was lucky to make it back alive.
Lucky for him, anyway.

Remember when science was still just searching for the elusive Higgs boson particle a.k.a the God Particle which had been predicted but never observed? A top physicist says the construction of a "factory" to produce Higgs boson particles is a priority for the science community. In an exclusive interview [with the BBC], Nigel Lockyer, head of America's premier particle physics lab, said studying the Higgs could hasten major discoveries. He said momentum in the physics community was gathering for a machine to be built either in Europe or Asia. " Our field uniformly agrees that would be a good thing," he told the BBC. SOURCE

I'm sure that this is a fake, but it still made me laugh... No worse than the flat earth loon and his rocket hoping to 'achieve orbit'!

BBC news has just informed us that in February the murder rate in London eclipsed the murder rate in New York. The bitter cherry on top of this unpalatable cake is that whilst murders and violent crimes in New York are falling the overall rate in London is on the rise.
Remember when we used to be able to point fingers at NY and tell Americans how dangerous their city was in comparison with ours? Hold on to that feeling because we might not be able to do that for much longer if our Police forces keep having their numbers slashed and their funding cut by whichever party happens to be in power.

Isolated pigs brains revived with synthetic blood and pump and normal electrical activity returned.
The concern now is it being applied to human ones and raises the issue of consciousness.

It was that lovely Adele's 30th birthday party the other day. To celebrate, she had a 'Titanic' themed bash, including dancing in life-jackets. What a charming tribute to the 1500 dead that was you utterly loathsome excuse for an individual.

The man hired to run the Student Loans Company was appointed against officials' advice and without having his references checked. Steve Lamey was made chief executive in June 2016 on a year's probation. Within 18 months he was sacked for gross misconduct after whistleblowers made 69 allegations of wrongdoing. Business, Innovation and Skills (Bis) officials received references from Mr Lamey's former employer - HM Revenue and Customs, which he left in 2012 - they recommended that the recruitment process was re-run. Mr Lamey's most recent employer declined to provide references and references were not sought from his clients, the National Audit Office (NAO) found. Ultimately, a disciplinary panel found Mr Lamey had breached four of the seven principles of standards in public life including integrity, objectivity, accountability and leadership. He was subsequently dismissed after two independent investigations for gross misconduct. SOURCE
