Yes buffers can make an enormous difference. Up to recently I was running a passive (LDR) pre into quite a 'deaf' amp (Trilogy 968 @ 1.5v sensitivity). Putting a buffer in line made night/day difference. First buffer I tried was a custom Alan (FB) jobby and second was a Lehmann Audio buffer (they call it a line controller). Currently playing with an active pre. Must have a look at the LKS dac one of these days. There is some bloke (initial of MT) on Amazon who gave it a glowing report.

Hah - I forgot about that.
The LKS balanced outputs are good but even so the Burson drives my power amp with a level of control and potency which it can't match when driving the amp directly.

I suspect the amazon bloke was on commission or had a 'keep' review unit.

LOL - there's also a worrying non-disclosure of audiophile fuses in the diagram ...

LOL - if I tried to populate the diagram with everything, it would become incomprehensible.

Could have sworn someone said they had simplified their system. Who was that, can anybody remember?

Could have sworn someone said they had simplified their system. Who was that, can anybody remember? It is - single source now. I didn't necessarily claim that my single chain would remain simple

One small change made today. I received the Supra LoRad cable and plugs and was making it up with screen not connected either end as is the current thinking, and put an AMR Gold fuse in the plug. This 1m cable is for powering the 2nd Weiliang 12V LPSU for the etherREGEN when it arrives.
Then I wondered if my longer Supra powering the Weiliang for the TP-Link router was made up the same way, when I had prepared it years ago. Nope, screen was connected at source, so I removed it and cut it away. Standard fuse, too, so in went another AMR Gold.
Small changes, small improvement in spacial definition and punchiness.

I'm left wondering whether the changes I hear are down to purely the AMR Gold fuse (likely) or some of it is down to floating the screen of the 3m Supra LoRad 1.5 power cable to the Weiliang PSU powering the router (unknown). It's a small but nice improvement in smoothness without losing any attack or slam.

Following this thread with interest, do you think you will go back to vinyl at any point Martin?

Following this thread with interest, do you think you will go back to vinyl at any point Martin? Never say never, but I really don't think so having sold my turntable, phono preamp, cartridges and record collection!

Answering that slightly more seriously - you know that easy ebb and flow of vinyl, the effortless ease with which it delivers musical communication? Now remove the surface noise and phono stage hiss, widen the dynamics and slam, deepen the bass extension and increase the resolution. That's what I get now from Qobuz and my digital replay chain.

There is no screen as such on that cable dude, you have not connected the drain wire bad idea LOL It would not be included if supra thought it was not needed now would it you naughty boy!
