I found two more used SR Orange 13A fuses on eBay at a bargain price. More Nectar points later...

The combined effect of the Coherent BDM power cable reaching its full performance and the SR Orange fuse in the pre-system feed getting some hours on it is the most vibrant and alive feeling to music I've yet heard on my system. It makes any music a joy to play.
I'm currently getting to know the Christine and the Queens' Chaleur Humaine album and it's a riot of musical colour and synth sumptuousness. The bass is particularly impressive.

Two more SR Orange fuses arrived today. That completes my 1" mains system fuses as being all Purples and Oranges. I have 5 empty boxes each of Purples and Oranges. I think I have one or two Reds still as 20mm rear panel fuses. I will have to check what's left.
There's a little bit more of the vividness, vibrancy and life in music, which just pops into existence seemingly unrelated to the speakers.

I just performed a survey of all my rear panel fuses - what a pain, and having to turn things off then back on in the right order, too. It turns out I can move one SR Orange 1A fuse to the Zero Zone PSU, so I just need one Purple 1A and one Orange 10A 20mm fuse - now ordered. That means that all my fuses will be split as follows (cable and rear panels matching): - Regenerators and ancillary components: SR Orange
- Core three digital components: SR Purple

Just be aware now that SR are stopping all production of fuses except Purple. I believe one other outlet and myself have purchased all of the fuses that a relevent to ourselves.

Disappointed that the Oranges are being stopped. As you say, they have their place in a balanced system. I have a few Reds as contingency and I won't be missing the Blues or Blacks!

I shall investigate thicker granite soon. Shame I can't fit one onto the P10, there's just no room between its top plate and the shelf above it.

My least height is above the TAD M 2500 Only managed to get two of the A3 size in. Then managed to squeeze the A4 ones in side by side

The SR Purple 20mm has gone into the back of the Rendu to replace the supplied Orange. There is already a 1" Purple in the Coherent 6D cable plug.
As with my previous Purples, the effect is immediate and very similar. More fine detail, wider stage. Lovely vocal reproduction. There is absolutely no downside that I can hear. It completes an all-Purple shod set of core digital components.

Now an SR Orange has gone into the power amp rear panel, matching the Orange in the cable plug. It replaced a Red.
A smaller difference than the Purple above, but still an increase in vibrancy and impact.
I guess some readers will be shocked at the combined cost, but in the context of a system like mine, they are relatively inexpensive and effective small upgrades.

A final SR Orange 20mm fuse went into the Zero Zone power supply feeding the 2nd master clock. I can't hear an immediate effect but I'll give it a few days. It's good to have completed the standardising of all my fuses. Job done!
The system is sounding wonderful, making all the effort towards creating a dedicated streaming setup feel worthwhile.

Hi Martin,
It sounds like you’ve got a good grasp on the SR fuses.
I’ve a couple in my system, but would like to get some for my active speakers. Would you think the orange would work well(I think they are on sale), or is it worth going for the new purple?
Thanks

Hi Matt. My sound balance may not work for others!
Saying that, I've used Purples in my core digital gear - streamer, DDC, DAC.
Oranges in everything else, especially the analogue gear.
I'd go for Orange in the speakers.

You could always try some cheaper ones first EG HiFi Tuning One is each speaker or more ? Hi Mike, I had Hifi Tuning Supreme in my previous speakers and they were a definite improvement, so I could try the newer supreme3. My old speakers used 1.6A fuses, but my new ones are only 1A unfortunately. I also tried DIYing fuses in my old speakers after seeing the Beeswax fuses which appear to be drilled at the end, filled, then soldered over. These worked well and definitely need investigating further with what can be injected into the fuse. There is actually more than 1 fuse in each speaker, but I don’t know what size or how many are inside.

I have the top beeswax fuses in my dac and poweramps; i got an uptick in ease and lucidity across the whole sound, very nice!
Now i have the 'pleasure' of uk mains wall fuse requirements i might get one in that plug too.

No UK versions are available despite me offering them $£ to produce them for me. Jerry wont budge on this.
