Having just bought a Lumix GX8 camera and 12-60mm lens, I was interested to find out how well the much talked about lens/camera twin stabilization performed. So I took a couple of test shots just to give the system a try. All were taken at night, and the ISO was set to auto in order to stand a fair chance of getting some decent hand held shots. The first one is of the iTower in Brighton. Sorry about the length of the shot. But the iSore (as some locals call it) is about 360meters high and would fit in the picture otherwise..

The next hand held shot was of that well known fountain in the centre of Brighton.

There was also a bit of a fireworks display by the pier. This is one of the many shots that I took with a reasonably good outcome.

Love the fountain, Stan. Some very good image stabilisation going on there.

Those are great Stan. The one of the waterworks at The Old Steine is great! I've just returned from a trip down that way myself (my old stomping ground and where lots of family and friends remain). I found myself inadvertently taking photos of the tower, but from rather further away while out walking on the Downs.

The first one is impressive, Stan, but I can't see the other two.

No, the heron is great Stn, but the others just look like little computer icons.

Yep, good stuff. The icons remain below the pictures, though that doesn't matter. Is the silouette one a Coot or a Moorhen?

It's a healthy pass time Mike. It's an excuse to do some walking, without being in a rush. I bought myself a very small camera bag that can hold my camera with nearly anyone of my zoom lenses. I normally fit the Panasonic 14-140mm zoom on my GX8 body, and this covers me for just about any eventuality around the lake.

I went down to the local bird sanctuary to see what was there to take a picture of. I managed a few shots.

It was a good spot, because soon afterwards I got a chance to take another good shot there.
