I like that a lot Chris.
What kit did you use?

Thanks. It was my Canon 20D with a Sigma 70-300. The image is cropped quite a bit!

Expertly done sir, and not over sharpened, which I love to see - still looks very natural. The Sigma was obviously an astute purchase.

It works ok, doesn't it? Not bad for a cheap modern zoom on an old modern camera!

This is the original, which I quite like too.

I like the "Telephone Exchange" shot. I've seen a few of those in my time. You do realise that the more "bad" shots you get back that are purely down to processing errors the closer you are to deciding which room in the house could also serve as a darkroom, and how you'll persuade the wife that "'we' need one", don't you?

She already has one!!!! Actually, that's not entirely truthful - she has the necessary equipment for a darkroom, including a rather fantastic Rollei enlarger, but we haven't used it since we have been in this house.

I did quite a lot of E6 slide processing in a tank at one point. That plus a slide scanner means no enlarger required.

Nicely captured.
Is that one of your low cost telephoto lenses?

Actually, I was using Mischa's camera. A modern lens with an ancient teleconverter - for a total of 900mm effective focal length!

Thought it must be a long focal length and not just cropping!

That's high praise, thank you Jules. That sky looks good on the TAS blue background, eh?!

The other day, I was playing around with some photos I took a couple of years ago of the shipyard at Gdansk. The weather was dreadful on the day and every image was dull and boring. I think I've succeeded in creating a little more interest with this one. I've somehow given it the look of a cover illustration on a Ladybird book!

Nice!
I reckon it would also be a prime candidate for a monolithic black and white look ...

I've somehow given it the look of a cover illustration on a Ladybird book! It reminds me, equally, of the style used for those old 1970s sci-fi magazine covers that I remember with such great affection. It just needs a rocket ship in there somewhere...
