There is plenty of storage, Mike. Cupboards lead to substantial storage under the eaves.

Not just related to hifi, but make sure there are plenty of mains sockets. You can never have enough mains sockets!

Oh, I know! It's not bad for sockets, and remember that my system runs from a regenerator, so only one socket required. I'm going to take my unswitched double silver socket with me to replace what appear to be Crabtree unswitched sockets there.

The consumer unit is in the cupboard in the room, so I'm assuming the room's wiring is a dedicated ring? I'm going to check more thoroughly.
I could deffo have a dedicated radial feed installed, it would be all of 5-6m in length. Alternatively, should the ring be shared with the main house, I could have it split off.
Thinking about it more, the P10 has its own fuse so what would stop me from using a cable outlet and hard-wiring the main power cable in? There would still be breaker protection.

The CU in the same room is good news as this tells us that the house tails are close by. Most definately leave the house CU and or ring main well alone. The house tails are coming out of the ground, it then goes into the house meter. It is after this meter you want a Henley block to split the incoming power, one line to the house CU and the other DIRECTLY to your Hifi area where your Hifi will have its own dedicated CU, RCBO and RCD/'s. To hardwire your mains cable feeding your regen is a great idea. Cut off the plug and hard wire it to a terminal in the wall. Exciting project! This may help. theartofsound.net/forum/showthread.php?29656-New-mains-instaltheaudiostandard.net/thread/1101/altered-hifi-mains

Wish we had asked for the storage to be shown on the plans before finishing

Thanks, James. Food for thought and I'll be looking into it seriously.

We have signed contracts at last!
Another tip: when looking for something you know you should have, look inside every document no matter how big the pile. I could not find the NHBC certificate for the house warranty, and only on the third pass did I open an innocent looking solicitor's letter only to find it stapled inside.

Have T shirt.
I am usually philosophical about misplaced items, you can be if you have time !
Really happy to be finding things I misplaced as I sort through the large amount of stuff I have

We exchanged contracts yesterday. This has been going on since March and we're very much relieved that it's done. Now to pack the hi-fi system...

I'll do my best. I did keep the speaker boxes, will have to perform a sliding manoeuvre to get them in on their sides, all 160kg each!

How people can buy, renovate, sell and move on every two years just to make some money is beyond me. Life is too short - REALLY too short!

Utterly different mindset Ok if you have that mind set and the focus We managed the house refurb while on site. Not perfect and took 14 months. Crap builders the problem If we ever did anything like that again we could dramatically reduce the time, easily down to half but with huge amounts of pre planning and decisions made in advance Currently as for packing and moving us I would not enjoy it one bit Planning for the future we need to sell, donate and bin a lot of stuff. A big place with lots of storage would be ideal

How people can buy, renovate, sell and move on every two years just to make some money is beyond me. Life is too short - REALLY too short! +100 We love our place. We love our new life - we will be real glad to stop living in a building site And to finally work our way through all those tiny frustrations. Sue is steaming from the ears trying to register to PAY social security. She has to send id documents. Passport AND birth certificate. In France we have noticed French women usually keep their original surname formally. Now we know why - Sue has to prove her name change from W (birth certificate) to B (first marriage) to S (second marriage). 2 marriage certificates and one divorce certificate - all to be supplied with official translations into French Think yourself lucky you are just moving house Hope all goes well with the move. Just keep breathing deeply and remember where you are going to be in the end

Is there any end to the paperwork? Buyer's forms, seller's forms, Land Registry transfers, trust agreement, mortgage agreement, wills, etc.
Aaaaaaargh!

I hope you settle OK in this place Martin. I'd hate to think you might have to do it again before too long!
