I get the slowing down thing. Mike - for pity's sake don't recommend anyone plays this while driving - you'll kill 'em in the first minute!  Think this was the only album that I disliked first play and got to love Still trying with Trout Mask Replica...... |

Think this was the only album that I disliked first play and got to love Still trying with Trout Mask Replica...... Has your Audio Fidelity copy of Birds Of Fire landed yet? Mine dropped through the letterbox today. The CD layer sounds pretty damned good to me. Trout Mask Replica takes a while for the head to get around. The dust blows forward 'n' the dust blows back |

You have every reason to be afraid. I can't wait, I like a challenge. I could easily recommend an album that few would like too, we all explore nooks and crannies of genres at times. |

Thought I would revisit those albums that I hadn't vote/commented on.
Own and like this album on CD, recently purchased it on Vinyl too at the Bristol show. 8/10 for me.

Played the box set of Mahavishnu mark 1 albums this week.
Birds of fire still the standout of all their albums
Between nothingness and eternity, The inner mounting flame, Visons of the emerald beyond also essential

Prompted by upgrades to try my SACD version again as the TAD CD takes SACD.
Tried track one on both
SACD a nice little step up
Playing the whole album reveals music I always hoped was there.
Clearer, more separation and clarity on which instruments are playing.
It really was a limited edition
Look to pay £50 or more to get one.
Loudness as an indicator of wonderfullness ?
Peaking at 94db and loving it
