I currently get the F1 channel for free on Sky It's not free, we pay a subscription to Sky. It just happens not to be in the Sports package, for which I am most happy.

Good point and right with you on that one, couldn't think of anything worse than having to spend extra money on a bunch if sports pages I'm never going to watch!

Well, Bernie has lost me as a viewer and I dare say I'm not alone. F1 should be 'free-to-air' as far as I am concerned and it would appear the drivers agree with me. CH4's on demand service is abysmal so that's it, no more motorsport on TV for me. More music vicar

How Hamilton pulled that fastest lap in quali today was just class and against the run of play all weekend too. He's admitted that this isnt a track he is comfortable with not only pole but the fastest lap ever at that Bahrain track (Webber held that honour up until today that is Poor Rosberg who's been fast and comfortable all weekend. Should be a good race tomorrow now the Ferraris are just about close enough - Hamilton (and Rosberg) need to avoid being overtaken at the start by Vettel and / or Raikkenen as happened the other week at the Melbourne opener and a few times last season. One time too many and it could cost Mercedes dearly as there'll also be the usual frantic jostling for position before turn one where there's real potential for a shunt Dont take your eyes off Vettel at the start tomorrow !

I'll have to stay away from this forum - I'm away until next Tuesday now, and I won't have access to a Sky box! I'll be recording the race and will have to watch it when I get back

Nice job Lewis. The qually session was more exciting than last time but still not great. 1:43s count down with no action. Give them more tyres and let them finish a lap after time out FFS! More Coultardisms this time. "Sucked off on to the grass"

That was a truly epic lap from Hamilton, and I had an uncanny feeling that he would pull it off. Bahrain has never been a strong circuit for him, but we shall see. I will most definitely be keeping an eye on Vettel as his starts have been superb. Goodness knows who's going to get to turn 1 first, it could be any of the four of them.

Good race, packed full of incidents. Poor start again by Hamilton but great that he nursed his damaged car in. Bad luck Vettel but Raikonnen did well to get and keep 2nd.
All the rest of the teams did well and there were some great fights throughout. Grosjean and his Haas car did fantastically well again and pulled off some great moves. Man of the race for me.

All the rest of the teams did well and there were some great fights throughout. Grosjean and his Haas car did fantastically well again and pulled off some great moves. Man of the race for me. Agreed. I've been concerned about this and saw it coming though as mentioned in earlier post. The potential for shunt / damage or out of the race as a result of getting caught in the guaranteed frantic jostling for position into turn one is hugely increased when you dont nail the start on the back of your hard earned pole. It was only a matter of time before this happened. Luckily for Ham he made it to the end of the race. Twice on the trot now he's looked on the positive side and expressed being happy with damage limitation. It's great he still manages a second and third after rubbish starts / shunt BUT it's not the best way to utilise the hard work of the advantageous pole position either. Secondly It's early days but already Rosberg is 17 points clear, two out of two and neither wins from pole. Most wins a season tends to be the stat that shows and leads to the title, not seconds and thirds overall.
Vettel wasnt in it today, it could have been a worse turn one. Vettel in particular is aware of the start weakness (from last year) and now rightly looks to expose that from the absolute off. C ome on Ham sort it out and stop making it harder than you need to - If you've nailed pole then nail the blinkin;' start man where you're more likely to keep out of trouble and bag a win !

If you heard the interview with Toto Wolff, he admitted that they had asked Daimler Benz for help with the clutches. It's clearly not just the fault of the two Mercedes drivers.

Good point Martin and makes sense. The way Ferrari AND Williams have literally flew past from start, has made the Mercs's look unnaturally stationery , so yeah they'll know something needs sorting quickly.

Haas and Stoffel in a Mclaren! getting a point were the stand outs. Merc is still too comfortable for anything other than a 2 horse season race, unless Lewis can screw up every start this season. A lot more practise with the single clutch and fewer driver aids needed on the simulator etc needed for him!

Yes, Stoffel proved the Maclaren/Honda package is coming up the curve nicely.

I agree with Johnny Herbert's assessment - Alonso should not come back and instead give the opportunity to Stoffel, I think that would make for much better opportunities for McLaren for the remaining races this year.
We are only 2 races in but Lewis is already 17 points behind Rosberg, so is going to have to pull out all the stops.

Knowing Ron Dennis and his investment in Alonso, he's more likely to dump Button at the end of the season.
