The CXC is pretty impressive isn’t it, Roy. It is Paul, paired with the M2 Tech Young DAC with Teddy Pardo Young power supply it's a marked improvement over the Roksan I had before. + the pre is a Pure Sound L10 Chris.

Great stuff. How much of a step up is the L300?

It's certainly more refined than the L10 but that's not to say the L10 isn't an excellent pre, the L300 just does what the L10 does but does it better (and when a mint one came up for sale at a good price I couldn't resist). Had to saw the back out of my rack to fit the beast in however.

I'm fairly new to valves Martin, they are gold lion KT88s but, as far as I can understand it, they're similar to 6550s? (same pin config. but maybe a slightly different spec?) www.6moons.com/audioreviews/jeaudio4/1.html

Rated at 60 watts, they work really well with my Tannoys.

Nice Roy. Is that 2 complete but different systems you have there now? - Do I see two sets of power amps, two pairs of speakers and two preamps?

Nice Roy. Is that 2 complete but different systems you have there now? - Do I see two sets of power amps, two pairs of speakers and two preamps? Sorry Chris I should elaborate, you're correct to an extent. The puresound pre has 2 balanced outs; 1 feeds the Quad QMPs / Goldenear Triton 2s & the other feeds the JE Audio valve monoblocks / Tannoys. This stems from me being unable to make a decision about which power amp / speaker combo I prefer so, for now, I've kept both sets. They both have their merits depending on what type of music you're playing.

I like to have the option of two different power amp choices too, so I know how you feel!

I seem to recognise some of the gear that has passed through your system, Roy! Hmm, so ... the Luxman integrated amp/DAC beats all the fancy esoteric audiophile cottage industry gear? A lesson for us all there, I suspect!

That's a pretty radical change of direction!
Does look the business though.
