Nothing to stop you having another Martin. Yes, I thought it was a bargain Chris, they have a lot of interesting stock.

Woof, that Esoteric P-03 transport is beyond yummy EDIT: especially since the Caiman-II appears to decode a DSD bitstream (I still need to confirm this but that's what my Pioneer Blu-ray player is saying), which means SACD playback too.

Yep, they would produce a 'big' sound alright.

Got rid of the dining table and now have speakers firing down the room (and it gives me the ability to plumb two turntables in)

Does that arrangement sound better, Roy? I'm thinking of side reflections.

How has the rest of the gear changed since the start of this thread Roy? It looks like you may have acquired a Krell pre amp and are now bi-amping with the Quads and some pro amps?

Does that arrangement sound better, Roy? I'm thinking of side reflections. It's definitely a step up from the arrangement I had before but I'm still experimenting with speaker placement and bungs (the Tannoys have two ports on the back & come supplied with bungs. At the moment I've got one port 'bunged up') now that I've got so much more space and flexibility.

Had the Krell pre and Crowns before I got the Croft pre & Quads. Was just experimenting with alternative amplification now that I've got space to 'play'. The Crowns are very 'up front' which sounds better with some material but can be fatiguing with other stuff. Prefer the Quads overall. Other change is I've now got room for two turntables, the QLA7, with an Ortofon red, uses the Croft pres phono stage while the Sony PS6750, with a Nagaoka MP10, uses an MF X-LP into the Croft.

Quick update As mentioned elsewhere new amps (that have usurped the Quads for now) and new CDP

How do the NVAs sound in comparison with the Quads?

I'm looking at the Sansui wi-fi tuner - I didn't know such things existed ... Could be a useful addition next to my monster vintage Toshiba tuner.
Does it do a good job?

How do the NVAs sound in comparison with the Quads? The jury's still out to an extent Martin, they're certainly livelier but that's not always a good thing. It really depends on what's being played but the NVAs are winning for the time being. They're certainly very good amps & you really wouldn't think they were only 40 watts.

For the price (think I paid around £160?) it does everything very adequately. Apart from the wifi side of things it has DAB & FM radio as well as a USB socket you can plug a hard drive or memory stick into. There's digital out so I run it through my Caiman 2 which helps.
