Me and a couple of the troops are going to have a little play with some equipment supports this Saturday . Some of the contenders are : RDC Cones Sound Damped Steel supports Electric Beach Rockin'Rollers Sorbothane feet Oak cones Some home made efforts and anything else the guys bring along. I know some of the guys on here favour various feet and supports so I'm sure this will be of interest. I'll post the results when I can , so watch this space

OK , please keep us posted Mike . Nice coincidence that we're doing this on the same day . We should be able to cover most of the current offerings between us.

Steve Jay has been doing a quite a bit of development around the Frugel/base implementation. Im chuffed to bits with mine as they stand but if there is incremental gain to be had from improved isolation Im interested.
Looking forward to hearing the differences that occur on Saturday. Its one area of my set up I have neglected, I was surprised talking to the boys that isolating servers can make a difference.
Should be fun.

Hmmm ... kit supports ... I used to be a Crazed Supporter, all sorts of cones and widgets have come and gone, but I just don't bother any more. Let's see if you lot re-inspire me to have another go!

No question for me. Will always have supports now.
Did loads of tests on wooden cones, sorbothane, RDC, Stillpoints, Black ravioli Mk1
Some tests were jaw dropping at the improvement in sound

From memory, not the most reliable, Stillpoints under the Pass Pre and Vida Phono Pre
The cheapo wooden cones are great VFM being so cheap

RDCs under the Ayre SACD player (now with Electric Beach S1NX platform, too) for me. Followed by RDCs under the preamp.

Yup , I've used one form of support or another under my gear for years now . I've got quite a few different ones here now so I thought it was time for a little bake-off with the troops

Well chaps, the summary of our really excellent afternoon's support shootout was very clear cut. We listened to RDC 1 Cones, Electric Beach roller supports and Black Ravioli Mk.III pads. My Ayre SACD player was the primary component being supported. The ranking order was 1st - Black Ravioli, 2nd (by a small margin) - Electric Beach, 3rd (by a larger gap) - RDCs. the Ayre really responded very well to the Ravioli, opening up the air and space of venues, sharpening the focus and preserving the attack even while reducing harshness. A superb support.
We also tried the Black Ravioli under the Belles power amp to a positive but smaller benefit and under the Caiman DAC in later listening from the Raspberry Pi2 to a very respectable improvement.
So, for me, the Black Raviolis were a revelation and the Electric Beach rollers are the star bargains for the money.
