Now with the vinyl revival and Corbyn taking over the Labour party could there be an underground movement? Looking forward to the 3 day week and the reformation of British Leyland. Especially looking forward to emptying my own bins on the tip or over flying pickets. All this scrapping of austerity should make us all poorer in the long run which means downgrading to SP25 and Sansui AU101. Oh happy days

John it's supposed to be a thread pointing a humorous angle at current and past events. Not a serious political discussion.

One big bonus though most of this shitty chart crap will disappear and quality music return. Cheap beer (Double Diamond and Whitbread pale ale ultra piss), crap cars (all be it fun ) police who felt Hendon haircuts, masonic tash's and Jenson Interceptors were the height of good taste. Interesting home decor, eight foot flares which always spat the rider off his Rayleigh Chopper as they jammed in his Strumley archer three speed uber gear shift (note high ranking Manson's offspring had the five speed version rarer than rocking horse droppings) Those mates sister's who annoyed the fook out of your early flea pit sessions when his parents were out with her space hopper bouncing incessantly up and down the place while you were trying to appreciate that latest release from Storm records The local hoons race their MK I escorts with Carlos Fandango's with the full furry interior, green lights under the jacked up back end so you could see the hammerite painted axle and 'appreciate' the fledgling disco movement with some northern soul. Head girls looking so different out of uniform and those school plays that needed a lighting tech. Crappy black and white TV, family Sunday lunches, unreliable Yammy FS1E's, girls definitely from Venus Oh happy days

Yeah, but some of us would have to regress backward through puberty, into short trousers and then finally nappies. Vaguely remember bin man strike and power cuts (born in '72). Remember thatcher coming to power at end of 70's but little before.

70's? Yup, I'd trade being late teens/early twenties over pushing 60, every day.

The 70's was the most dramatic decade in my life. Except for the bullets dodging in the early 70's in South America the rest would be most welcome.

It all seems a bit dangerous, so can I suggest a compromise? I volunteer to go back first. I'll take a few thousand quid with me and spend a few weeks living like a 70s person - you know the kind of thing, I'll buy some mint vintage hi-fi and records to bring back with me......probably quite a lot of that sort of stuff. Maybe I'll go to a few gigs. Then I'll come back ad tell you guys what it's like, whether it's safe etc. While you're discussing whether to do it or not, I might spend the time building a hi-fi system or two....maybe selling a few things.
How's that sound?

Except for the bullets dodging in the early 70's in South America the rest would be most welcome. Do tell! Let's just say that I had enemies in the wrong places. One of them was en.wikipedia.org/wiki/D%C3%A9si_BouterseA cousin of mine eventually ended up as minister of defence for Bouterse. My cousin is listed at nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ramon_Dwarka_Panday but the page is in Dutch. He passed away last year and surprisingly got a state funeral. A couple of the guys listed on the page at www.suriname.nu/303ges/december08.html were murdered by Desi were either friends of mine, school teachers at my school, or fathers of school friends. The military eventually came to the college I was studying at and shot up the place and a few students. I then realized it was time to move on.

Can we not do a group buy and commission Colin to build a time machine?
