I understood several of those words, Pete. Something to do with a camera? Right?

I had an electric wok years ago, and it was brilliant. I think it probably got lost in a house move, and for some reason I never replaced.it. I've now rectified that matter. Stir-fries are quick, and healthy, and now even easier for me to prepare in single sized portions rather than having to drag the "big" wok ouit of the cupboard. I've also ordered Ken Hom's " 100 Quick Stir-fry Recipes" to go with it, for a little inspiration and variety. I tend to rely too much on pre-packed stir-fry veg, sauces etc. so hopefully It'll make me a bit more adventurous as well. Yes. I am a sucker for kitchen " gadgets and gizmos" and I don't care.

Got a deal on this Club Car golf cart, for tooling around the neighborhood and going to our TCU football games! I am tearing out the old lead cell batteries and converting to lithium batteries. This shaved off 300 pounds of weight!

Is it road legal? Sounds like a load of fun.

We live within a mile from Colonial Golf Course. Residents in our neighborhood use golf carts, legally within 3 miles of the course, to drive around to do chores, go to the gym, pick up kids from school. Also go to TCU for gym, football games, etc. We don't play golf - LOL!

I mentioned in another thread that I had recently purchased a modified Sony RX0-II camera. Well, here it is with a 50 mm MFT video lens mounted on it. I included a matchbox for scale and I suspect when it is rigged you won't even be able to see it! Most of its life will be spent on top of a microscope though, tethered to a computer as its screen is tiny. These cameras come with a fixed Zeiss 24 mm (equivalent on 35 mm) autofocus lens and are basically a high-end action camera. The modification done was to remove the lens and autofocus system and much of the casing and re-mount it into onto a micro four thirds (MFT) / C-fit / Bolex mount using parts manufactured by Bach-Bone in Canada. I had the conversion done by RageCams in Michigan, but you can buy the parts and convert your own RX0 should you wish. However, they do it all the time and can supply the camera and include a nice 7.5 mm MFT lens (not the one mounted here). The RX0-II has what Sony call a 1.0 type sensor (and what other manufactures call 1" - a wildly misleading term as it refers to the outside diameter of the vacuum tube in old analogue video cameras!) which actually measures 13.2 mm x 8.8 mm and has 15.3 MP (nothing in that specification comes anywhere near an inch). It is slightly larger than the image area on 16 mm film and has a slightly wider aspect ratio, but not as wide a Super 16 mm. It can output 4K video to an external recorder (I use Atomos units that can transcode it on the fly to 4K ProRes) but you would need to crop a bit to match other footage. The big advantage of these cameras is their size though (and if you don't chop them up, they are waterproof too) and you can get them into places that it is impossible to get even a small mirrorless system.

Maybe it needs a battery or something?

Works for me, Paul. However, I have added a smaller version in case that was causing problems.

Can you just sling (!) it in and have it all done for you ? My sort of cooking expertise

Interesting, what's the benefit of an electric wok vs a gas one?

Possibly gets hotter (230C) than a hob-based one.
I make my fried rice meals on a hob-based wok and it's hard to get it hot enough to really sizzle the rice fast.

That's my idea of making a quick, healthy, stir-fry, but you don't need to go electric for that, I've been using my wok on a gas hob for ages. Stir fries are quick, delicious, pretty healthy (*depending on your ingredients) and filling. For me it was the size, apart from anything else. I've got a big wok and really needed to scale it down as I'm only cooking for one. With my big wok I've found myself cooking a double portion, partly out of necessity and partly out of laziness. Going electric at the same time just seemed sensible as I really liked using the one we used to have, and found it much more "controllable" than gas or electric hob wok. I very rarely use more than one of the burners on my gas hob these days, I've got all sorts of alternatives, including a single " emergency" induction hob. This will finally allow me to close off the gas hob, and use the area for extra worktop space for the induction hob, electric wok, rice cooker, mini halogen oven, electric skillet, whatever. Added to that, it's " wipe clean" so won't be taking up half of the dishwasher every time I use it. Plus pretty much what Martin said. With the addition of controllability. It has four heat settings, warm (90°C), low (150°C), medium (190°C) & high (230°C) which makes it simple to stir-fry things, add a sauce, and then simmer for a while with the lid on. Added to that, it should give a more even " cook" as the whole bottom heats evenly rather than the size of the hob burner getting more heat than the rest of the base.

Any tips on cooking rice? Or do I need a rice cooker?

If you mean fried rice, it's better with brown rice. Boil in plenty of water for about 25 mins, until it's still a bit nutty in texture. Then sieve and put straight into a hot wok with sesame oil and your ingredients of choice. Stir fry rapidly for a few mins, which cooks the rice a little more.
I've never found a need for a rice steamer.

Ok thanks Martin, I might need to invest in one of those electric wok’s as I struggle with a frying pan on an induction hob.

I forgot to mention, I usually put into the wok garlic, ginger, chilli paste, pine nuts and a choice of any mix of chicken, chorizo, bacon, sweetcorn, peas.
