Wow! The Black Strat! Who on earth bought that? I'd love that '54 Strat, just because it's the year I was born. Oh well, I'll have to be happy with my eBay bargains.

Being as green sort of bloke, I thought I'd recycle this thread. Fortunately, it's biodegradable. The new toy has arrived a couple of days early.

Gorgeous! A kind of semi-acoustic Telecaster?

It's pretty much the ultimate "mongrel," Martin. A chambered Tele with P90 pickups. I need to restring it to suit me, and then decide whether I'm going to "upgrade" it. I'm looking at some more powerful P90 pickups, and re-doing all of the chrome in black, but if these pickups are OK I may not bother to touch anything. I probably won't get to play with it properly until tomorrow though.

Gibson SJ200 Super Custom Cutaway Acoustic Custom Shop. Gibson Koa Acapulco Gold Acoustic Custom Shop. Yes, that is a blatant drug reference, as the certificate makes plain! Gibson Les Paul Supreme. Washburn bass which I don't really play. Cornford Harlequin 6 Watt EL84 amp.

The SJ200 gets the most use but they are all very nice really.

(HB is the house brand for www.thomann.de/gb/index.html) After testing the water with one of their fretless basses I had no hesitation, the bang-for-bucks quotient is through the roof. Even better, I bought this used on eBay, and it's the first iteration the model. The "new" version has what looks to be a lighter-weight bridge, and the finish doesn't look so deep in the pics I've seen. They use Roswell pickups now, after switching from Trev Wilkinson's, but I'm looking at a pair of Bloodstone Dark Star P90s to replace them.

Prices are crazy low new.
TBH Gibson prices are ridiculous. I got mine for far less that most UK shops want around 15 years ago.
I had a Washburn acoustic at around £300 that I think (know) was better setup than my Gibson acoustics.
That said they are nice. Just buying them is a little bit insane when there a so many competent and much cheaper alternatives. Same applies to all the big names really.

Prices are crazy low new. TBH Gibson prices are ridiculous. I got mine for far less that most UK shops want around 15 years ago. There is the occasional QC problem with apparently, but from reading the bass forum I belong to it's not that often, and they replace with no quibbles. Re Gibson's prices, I've only got the one, and I didn't pay full price either. No way I can afford their prices, hence most of my guitars are eBay finds. Here's my current stable, minus the Yamaha which I recently donated to a nephew. There's nothing " top-tier" except the Gibson, but there are some nice quitars among them. The Schecter Solo 35th Anniversary is a gem, one of only 35 issued, and mine is #6. of the run. It's numbered on the truss rod cover, and came with a pukka certificate of proof.

Here's my Gibsons as they were in 2008 as I just found the photos on a forum from then. Love the Acapulco certificate;) And the fact there are only 24 in the entire world. The Supreme is a hollow body but is still weighs an f'ing ton. The body is much thicker than a standard. Also it's flamed maple back and front. Though I didn't say, it is also a custom shop. A mate had a Schector for playing metal and brought it into work. I quite liked it but a very different beast to the Supreme, with a much narrower neck and close spaced strings.

I just realised, I need to update the pic of the Les Paul as I've fitted a Duesenberg Les Trem to it.

And actually I lied my Supreme is in fact NOT a custom shop. Dunno why I suddenly decided it was:D
TBH though it ought to be. It's a nice step up from a standard finish wise in the flesh I think.

Upgrading to the HB is on hold as I've just spent a lump of the money I'd set aside for it What can I say? I'm a sucker for Line 6 gear and I got a good deal on an AMPLIFi TT which will replace my Focusrite Scarlett as a recording/guitar interface on the PC.

That is quite a smart bit of kit Paul I used to have a Line 6 pedalboard when they first came out Besides the AMPLIFi TT, I've got a couple of their Variax guitars, two of their amps (15W and 60W), a Floorboard Express, Relay 10 wireless, a Floor Pod and a Bass Pod, and a POD Studio UX2. I also use their Pod Farm software on my DAW. My name is Paul, and I'm a Line6 addict.
