From my experience with both sizes of arm, they each have their own strengths and weaknesses.
Personally I prefer the nine inch arm over the twelve, every time I have heard this combination, I find myself feeling yep more dynamics, yep more bass for sure, however the larger arm loses out for me on pure musicality and greater involvement factor. So six of one and half a dozen of the other.
