Bravo Wonky The machine should last me more than 10 years, as the boilers etc. are all stainless steel. I am making about 4 cups of coffee weekdays and more at weekends. It won’t be long before the total cost is below £40.

You need to drink more and bring the overall cost down then It's good for us they tell us today. Next week it'll be bad again, but I'll still be drinking it.

Just thought you'd like to know that I've decided so far, in my taste trials, that Columbian is the best, followed by Ethiopian and Kenyan is the least nice. All Sainsbury's ground coffee for an equal playing field. Will try some more next week.

Martin - please get hold of a good burr grinder and start doing some reviews on the Sainsbury's range of bean coffee!
I'm still waiting for my hand-operated Feld2 grinder made by knock to be manufactured - should be with me in early December and I need some recommendations.
Cheers. Bill

Do Sainsburys stock a Monsoon Malabar? We get ours from Booth's supermarket but you folks down South (or up North, or East, for that matter!) aren't blessed with such a thing. Coffee heaven

Waitrose do a Monsoon Malabar, I buy it from time to time. Their whole bean coffee is very good, unlike Sainsbury's, tried them all and I'm not a fan.
Booth's is probably the best supermarket chain I have been in Chris, superb.

I'm not a fan of Sainsbury's either, they're just the closest to where we live now.
How I miss my Morrisons of old.

I Like Aldi but you obviously cannot get everything from there. Morrisons for the rest..

I enjoy iced coffee (and tea) during what passes for summer; has anyone here tried any of the "cold brewing" devices available?

Convinced enough to have one or maybe even 2 cups a day, especially right now with a cold lingering. "It found a lower risk of liver disease and some cancers in coffee drinkers, and a lower risk of dying from stroke - but researchers could not prove coffee was the cause"

AeroPress - paper filters, or the stainless steel reusable ones?

Beware - the cheaper stainless ones often don't properly fit so they don't filter. I use paper.

I ordered loads of paper ones. I'll stick to them as I can eject the filter+coffee spoils straight into the bin by pushing the plunger.

Hmmm...I might give the Able Fine a go when the Aeropress arrives. My current, simple, method uses a metal filter and I really don't want to 'taste' the paper filters in my coffee. Obviously I'll try the paper filters too, but for £13.00 I think it's worth experimenting.

It's really frustrating.
I just can't get my shop bought ground espresso to run through the machine slowly enough at the moment, so it's slightly under extracted. Needs to be ground finer.
Might just buy myself a hand grinder for Xmas!

Either online, or the following supermarkets - Sainsbury (12 mile round trip), Tesco, Asda, Co-Op or Lidl (all approx 25 mile round trip). Cheers. Bill
