Aeropress Report
Following the instructions, the Aeropress is very easy to use. I bought a ton of filter papers so will be sticking with them rather than using the optional metal filter. I like that the instructions build washing the parts afterwards into the ritual. I find I'm drinking fewer mugs of coffee at work but savouring each one much more.
I'm currently using San Augustin Columbian ground coffee from Whittards. Two of the spoon measures with water up to the '2' mark makes a perfect Espresso, which I then top up to an Americano in the recommended manner. It undeniably makes a better coffee than using the same ingredients in a cafetiere. It must be down to using less water and the pressing action.
As a one-mug coffee maker this is right up my street and makes superb coffee. Thanks for all the recommendations!

As a one-mug coffee maker this is right up my street and makes superb coffee. It's hard to beat for that, you can re-use the filter papers too with a rinse. Aeropress reckon 4/5 times If I remember, which is what I do. This is very good if you like Columbian, but I buy the whole bean, you need a grinder next which really will boost the flavour over grounds. It's my go to bean. Tesco Finest Colombian Supremo Coffee Beans 227G (recommended by AlexUK from AoS).

Thanks, but I'm using the Aeropress at work and a grinder may be one step too far! I'm going to revert to Sainsbury's Ethiopian Sidamo next, a coffee I've had before which is really rather nice.

Any whole bean recommendations from Sainsbury? We've only got a small shop!
Cheers. Bill

It's surprising that only a few cups of Nespresso can affect how you are perceived by others. Lately, several people have remarked on my uncanny resemblance to George Clooney! P1030069 by Steve Coward, on Flickr

If your reflection is the wrong way round, you've got more problems than the coffee you drink!

Thanks, but I'm using the Aeropress at work and a grinder may be one step too far! I'm going to revert to Sainsbury's Ethiopian Sidamo next, a coffee I've had before which is really rather nice. We have a Nespresso Pro machine at work, and the coffee is free. I bring my morning coffee into work in a Contigo thermal mug. I don’t care what people say, as I am the only one drinking “real” coffee. A better option Martin, is to get a grinder for home and take your fresh ground coffee to work each day. Preground coffee loses a lot of taste, but it is convenient.

I think Nespresso coffee is rank, really can't (and won't) drink it. Not a bad idea about grinding at home first. I reckon Martin will be tempted eventually, if he really enjoys his coffee. It's a dark road he's venturing down . . . .

My cousin has a grinder at home and before I gave up caffeine based coffee, he made me a cup and I have to say it was one of the nicest coffees I had ever drank.
The problem with decaffeinated coffee is that most places use sachets which isn't ideal (although I do quite like Costa's), although there is a place, Coffee No. 1 that has opened in Newbury who do very nice bean decaff.

If I consider the cost of my latest purchases per cup of coffee made, I am actually paying more than that at the moment!

I'm going to revert to Sainsbury's Ethiopian Sidamo next, a coffee I've had before which is really rather nice. I brought a packet of the Ethiopian into work this morning, and a Kenyan Fairtrade to try, too.
