Meet "Klangphonics" and yes, they are a real band. Another of their instruments is an electric sewing machine.

I've decided to go for the cold-brewed coffee properly, so I've bought one of these. www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0C689JX1T?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_detailsIt holds 64oz / which is two quarts in American money I believe. I bought a 500g pack of "Cherry Storm - No. 17 (Dark Edition) 100% Arabica beans" to try it out with. Now I just need to find my coffee grinder, and my scale.

All arrived, all used, and a couple of pints of cold-brew Arabica should be waiting for me when I rise tomorrow.

So how do you like the coffee Paul?? It's delicious, Jules. A bit too strong, and I added a wee bit too much Stevia, but neither of those things bothers me overmuch, and my measurements are sorted for next time. I may try diluting it with oat milk and keeping the measurements the same, but that's an expriment for next week, when I've got some oat milk. I've got some flavoured syrups that I use for instant coffee to experiment with too. If coffee-lovers haven't tried it, it's a very inexpensive experiment, and a worthwhile one in my book, especially in this weather.

Hehe, you'll have to prise the Redber decaf beans, roasting pan, grinder and espresso machine out of my death clutch first🤣

Espresso shot as normal, ice and milk in jug mixed / frothed with blitzer, pour into Irish coffee glass already containing the shot, top off with my own cocoa powder / xylitol choc mix.

The taste difference is in the brewing. A cold brew is less " bitter" than a hot-brewed coffee. All I add to mine is a little milk, or cream, sometimes, if I fancy a milder, longer drink. I add some Stevia to the mix pre-brewing. I'm back on the Brazil Yellow Bourbon Single Origin Arabica beans too, they're perfect (for me, anyway) for hot or cold brews.

There was no graphic for Aeropress users, Paul. I feel discriminated against and hurt.

I was looking for the Aeropress, too.
However, since none of it makes any sense, I'm NOT BOVVERED.

I think must roasters over roast! That's what contributes to give a bitter taste, that and wrong extraction rates.
Self roasting and other parameters you can dial in exactly the taste you like.

I was in a central London Pret the other day requiring immediate coffee.
The good news is in the past few years or so they have completely revamped their coffee offering and it's a totally different class of coffee than it used to be. I tend to prefer it to Nero and Costa. I don't know exactly what they have done but one thing for sure is that they changed their supply of coffee from that dark roast, bitter gak that they used to serve. I can enjoy drinking it
The price of £3.80 feels excessive, but is actually quite good value compared to many others - the large cups are so full I'm guessing there's about double the amount of coffee I might get elsewhere and I don't really need to buy a second which I might very likely do elsewhere.

I'll give them a try next time I see one.
You're right about their coffee having been awful in the past.
We've lost our Nero in Basingstoke, but there are still four Costas.

I was given a hamper of three M&S ground coffees and started with the Classic. It's really very agreeable - smooth, fruity and slightly creamy tasting.
