I just prefer to press one button and get the exact amount of water I require, delivered at the temperature I need, in less than 60 seconds. Does the water in the reservoir stay cold, Paul? It just heats what's demanded? That's right, Martin. There seems to be a separate reservoir in mine, and after every dispense the correct amount of water for the next serving is sucked into it, ready to be heated.

Yes I'd seen that article thanks Paul. If I had the luxury of a kettle just for coffee the Dualit would be an excellent option but mine needs to double up as a general purpose unit and the Ninja looks perfect.

I have a glass side kettle Jules with leds around the base that change colour depending on the water temperature reached. Not as precise as dialing in a specific temperature, but close enough for an Aeropress for around 85 to 90 degrees. As it's glass sided with graduations it's easy to see how much water is in there so you don't boil too much. It was only about 30 quid, got it in Asda.

A colour changing base? Was it made by renowned design duo Fisher and Price??

A colour changing base? Was it made by renowned design duo Fisher and Price?? Haha, it's not quite that bad, but it made me laugh . . . it's like below and it goes from light blue, to dark blue, then purple and red at 100 degrees. Just as it goes to purple seems to work for me

I normally avoid Argos at all costs, but googling Asda brought up this kettle that actually seems good value at 41 quid and fit for purpose. I do like the Ninja a lot though ... www.argos.co.uk/product/9186248

... I do like the Ninja a lot though ... I've got 3 bits of Ninja kit in my kitchen and they are all quality items as far as I'm concerned. Currently £79.00 on Amazon, or £99.00 for the stainless steel version.

I do like the Ninja a lot though ... I don't have any myself, but those same friends with the air fryers in the garage have quite a few Ninja products and swear by them. They do seem very well made and solid.

I'm enjoying coffee at 200 Degrees Coffee Shop - highly recommended if you find yourself in Birmingham requiring caffeine!

I've just ordered one of these... www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0C2Z56DLVand one of these... www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B092DVW91P...and I feel Christmas cocktails coming on with a bit of Kahlúa and much Vodka. All I need now is to find a decent substitute for Gomme (sugar syrup) and Espresso Martinis here I come. What the Hell, it's only once a year, then I'll go back to being virtually tee-total.

Sadly, I've no other vices left to exploit.

I have now upped my coffee game considerably with the acquisition of a Fellow Ode gen 1 grinder. I saw this advertised with a chunky £100 discount pre Xmas and just couldn't resist. It's a single shot grinder and is perfect for Aeropress duty whilst if you need to grind espresso you will need the finer grind of the recently released gen 2 model. The large dial on the front controls grind size and the range for Aeropress is 1-4 from finest to coarsest. There are also four increments between each setting for fine control. I am experimenting with settings from 2-3 as my first brew at setting 2 showed a lot of promise but just a little too strong for me. I love the simplicity of operation - you just add your weighed beans, press a button and the machine does the rest, with auto-off after a very short time; it's not too loud either. Many thanks to Tim for giving me the nudge to move over to an electric grinder. I will report back once I have got some more experience with it. www.coffeehit.co.uk/products/fellow-ode-brew-grinder

I do like the way it's made. A very nice touch is that the "catch cup" is magnetic and snaps precisely into place so the grinds go where they should.
In terms of flavour I really need to try it with one of my favourite coffees. However I will attempt a hifi analogy. Using pre-ground coffee is a bit like listening to your favourite lps on a seventies system with the likes of Quad amps and Tannoy speakers. There is absolutely no problem enjoying the music but when you move to a good streaming system, DAC direct to power amp etc, you are suddenly presented with a lot of information you didn't know was there. Detail, nuances and depth are found in a way that previously wouldn't have been quite imagined.
Of course, like hifi, the results will depend on all the links in the chain being attended to - your Aeropress routine and quality of coffee will be shown up even more by grinding freshly.

Crikey Jules, 100 off an ODE is an extraordinarily good deal. Welcome to the world of better tasting coffee
