One thing about using metal or paper filters is that they will always perform the same. Not so with the cloth filter due to the constant build up of oils that it retains. So I've started giving it the 10 mins bath in boiling water more often and it's really worth it when you get that wonderful clarity of flavour that a clean filter brings.

I'm still happy with the metal filter, which as you say is consistent and makes better tasting coffee than paper filters.
I don't want to faff around with a cloth filter, to be honest.

Coffee runs through the cloth filter too fast Spoke to Cloth Filter Co.
Advised to use a finer grain That seems counter intuitive

This is why you have to use the inverted method!

I dunno about that but I do rate them as a supplier.
That said these days the odd run of espresso Martinis isn't out of the question.
Always good fun if in the mood. Drunk and seemingly alert as perceived by yourself. When, of course, you're just blitzed;)

Jules if you have never had one get on the case.
A well made espresso Martini is a seriously nice drink.

Espresso Martinis reminded me of a silly Swedish guy on Insta reels who brews using all sorts of ready drinks through his filter coffee machine and tries them.
Madness!

This wasn't bad. I had a bottle at Christmas and it was one of the few things I drank. Chocolate Espresso Martini

I also think next weekend might be espresso Martini weekend here;) TBH I haven't made one for at least a year. Let the downfall into caffeine fuelled inebriation begin. Mandatory is three roasted floating coffee beans on the head to crunch into as you make your way through it. That doesn't work unless you have some great to excellent beans, though.

Although I loath Which? magazine, this was interesting:
This is one reason I have always preferred Costa coffee and avoid Starbucks like the plague, notwithstanding that SB coffee tastes like tarmac.

If I'm on the motorway and see Starbucks on the sign for a service station I drive on! Always happy to wait for a Costa ... The only other chain store coffee I will drink is Cafe Nero.
