I recently took a step back from coffee. After years of drinking 2 cups a day of double shot espresso in a barista soya cappuccino form, I realised I needed a break from it.
Stopped all intake of coffee and alcohol free beer, and drank only water instead, for a week.
After that I've had the odd single shot cappuccino one every other day or 2.
Amazing how the coffee beans and milk last now.
I'm certainly not addicted to coffee or alcohol free beer 😂

Haven't had coffee since I tried the cafetierre above
Sometimes enjoy a cup of coffee, often I'm not fussed either way
Maybe the Aeropress will change that

I'm finding I'm enjoying it more on the occasions I do drink. A case of, less is more? I don't find I'm longing for coffee. I did enjoy the making process of it though.
I guess I didn't drink enough to find it essential to my day. Never started the day with it either.

Just started my second mug - for me it's an essential start to the day, and er, the rest of the day too!

I operate differently at work than I do at home.
At work, we have sachet coffee machines (Lavazza) which make a passable mug of fresh coffee and I drink probably 4 of these a day.
At home, I use an Aeropress and I usually only have one mug of coffee with a biccy in any given day. This makes the best coffee for me.

Interesting test today
The boss made a cafetierre jobbie today. Better than my making. A step or two up
Door bell rings. Dogs go mental
Aha
Aeropress is here
Make test cup
This is already a couple of steps up from the cafetierre Unless we got very lucky I'm hoping even better will come
As for those who says Aeropress is messy, you are very wrong. Cafetierre is way messier and nowehere near as good

Aeropress messy? Not really, I just remove the metal filter, eject the coffee wad into the bin and put Aero and filter under the tap. Job done!

I'm sure you will be able to get better Mike.
You can try experimenting with some different "recipes" but personally I find the Hoffman method works best - it hasn't made a bad cup of coffee yet ..
Remember to plunge almost as slow as possible to get full extraction from the coffee and also plunge right to the end until you can't go further, don't stop when you hear it fizzing.
In terms of coffee, if you don't have somewhere local, try getting fresh coffee delivered but make sure it is ground for Aeropress - medium fine. You should find this to be several steps up from whatever you can get in a supermarket. If you need some names of really good online retailers just ask - I've tried dozens of them ...
And make sure to get a vacuum canister to keep the coffee fresh.

Thanks Jules That first cup has already impressed me quite likely with a sub optimal coffee from Tesco We'll be trying all sorts and reporting back

Today's offering was even better.
Most impressed. I could get into coffee Surprised the Aeropress does so well
There is one particular individual that says it is messy. He's gone down in my estimation. Even further when I heard he drinks instant muck

Tasty element to some of my birthday presents for us to sample First up something new to Silver Oak Coffee of Ely. My first Vietnamese coffee I think. Very tasty indeed.

Today I tried twice as much coffee and water. Almost as nice, bit too strong Another tweak tomorrow

Now you know what I meant by " brave enough," Martin. It is how traditional Vietnamese coffee is made though, so I suppose it needs to be tried, even if just to be able to say how awful it is. The last time I had condensed milk was as a componenet of a rather gorgeous banoffee pie, in pre-diabetic times, obviously.

Banoffee is the only way I can consume that white effluent of Beelzebub.

A question for anyone using a metal filter with Aeropress. What's your clean up routine? How do you eject the used grounds without having to fish your filter out of the bin?
