Tried a brew or two with the 2nd go at home roasting. Some say 12 to 24 hrs to degas after roasting (lose CO2), some say several days or even 2weeks😱 I first brewed after 18hrs and again a 24🙂 When ground it’s a lighter roast than even a 3 you’d buy. Not quite white coffee though. Perhaps it's the maturity process not completed yet? Ground to perfection in the Eureka Mignon Specialita. Oh the smell when grinding. Freshest, most coffeeest aroma I’ve ever experienced. Gave a nice extraction. Full of flavour and neither bitter nor sour. The lighter roast gives lighter notes. Can taste the treacle and fig Silver Oak talk about but it’s light. Question is; are all bought roasts too dark roasted for my delicate developing 'Hoffman' palette?😂 Time will tell. Forgot to say, opening the container as sniffing is the most devine coffee aroma! = Addicted to smell alone!

Just made an Italian espresso roast 4. Virtually black in comparison.

Daughters boyfriend is into hydroponics. Grows all the time. Wonder how much space would need to be dedicated to it for a crop to be self sufficient? "Patience of a saint".. well that's me all over😂

Due to Royal Mail industrial action my delivery of coffee was delayed by over a week and this played mighty havoc with me. I did have a few Moka pots but otherwise I was grabbing an occasional cappuccino at local cafes. Very unsatisfactory. The sense of relief was entirely palpable when three bags of fine coffee from Roost finally arrived yesterday! I can now indulge my heady caffeine pleasures at whim.

The standard one, Mike. I use mine every day - sturdy construction, reliable, makes a consistent cup of coffee.

A lot better: somewhere between a cafetiere (no pressure), the Aeropress (light pressure), and a professional espresso maker (high pressure) when squeezing the flavour from the ground bean. I find the Aeropress consistent in making a coffee.
For an Americano, my preferred drink, I use a small mug, put two level measuring spoons of coffee in the Aeropress and fill it to the 2 mark with not quite boiling water, then stir with the plastic stirrer. Leave for 40s, squeeze it down to make an expresso, then top the mug up with water to make an Americano. Delicious.

I use an Aeropress just about every day. It’s perfect for one person but just be aware that you can only make one cup at a time and you can't use espresso grind coffee. If ordering fresh coffee online many roasters will allow you to specify an Aeropress grind, or if going to a shop to get it ground, ask for Medium Fine, this will give you the best results. You can buy bags of filter coffee from the supermarket but you won't get quite the same depth of flavour.
After some experimentation I have found this to be the most reliable daily ‘recipe’ with one small tweak. I don’t like the coffee dripping through whilst brewing so when I put the plunger in, I pull back on it just a little to create a vacuum, which stops any dripping.
I think you should also get a Bialetti Moka Pot if you don’t have one already for when you want a stronger coffee. They come in all different sizes and you can make an espresso style drink with them; not the same, but similar. They are very easy to use once you have the basics correct. You can add frothed milk as I do if you want a cappuccino style drink.

I’ve recently moved from using Moka pot daily to a pour-over..Kalita 155. I’m very pleased with results, I use a Niche Zero grinder which I bought to accompany my La Pavoni. I’ll service the La Pav when I eventually retire and use it when I want enjoy the process, I find it very satisfying but rather time consuming. My waking up beans are ravecoffee.co.uk/products/the-italian-job-blendFor a little less punch I love Yemeni Matari www.coffee-direct.co.uk/products/yemeni-matari-coffeeI try various single origin beans to spice things up. I’m sure I’ll give the Aeropress a go in time.

I must confess to still using paper filters as I find the clean up easier. Certainly not a good environmental choice ...
