It's 23.30 and I am pining for a coffee ... My new coffee was overdue in the post so hadn't had any fresh for a while - arrived today and my tastebuds have woken up again.

That's very late to be having one!

Mind, I first read the post at about midnight while drinking a large mug of freshly brewed coffee!

Yikes! Just as well I didn't have any - took me about 3 hours to get to sleep anyway!!

I've just gone back to Cafe Direct Macchu Picchu having tried a few others. It's a good reliable coffee with great aroma and taste.

I agree, it is what I always use when in the UK.

As a matter of interest, what do you buy in Germany, Pete?

For those of you who, like me, sneak the odd cup of instant, Sainsbury's are selling 180g cans of Nescafe Gold Blend Barista Style for £4.00 instead of £7.00. It's the best tasting instant out there, probably.

Agreed - I have been known to drink that at a push and it's not bad.

I don't drink BP coffee, being caffeine free, but along the same lines I always have a big scoop of either ghee or coconut fat in my first hot drink of the day.

Interesting!
What's your thinking on the 'additive'?
I'm not going to try being roughly a 4 'full caffeinated cup a day' man ...

Works well for me! It takes care of my early morning appetite, seeing me through the first several hours of the day - when I'm usually very much in Dad-mode - before I can have a proper breakfast. Tastes nice, too.

Here's a very interesting article on the 2019 'coffee crisis'. I was shocked to hear that a $5 coffee in the States still isn't giving many coffee growers the chance to earn a proper living - growers in Brazil for example have seen their income cut by half since 2016. www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-48631129

I thought I had learnt my lesson after the last African coffee I bought, but was tempted by the reputation of Rwanda.
Very disappointing again for me, just not my taste at all! Quite thin and light; lacking ultimate flavour and the red berry notes I was looking forward to. It was expensive too!
I will stick to South America in my quest for the holy grail of coffees - they are consistently fuller bodied, smoother and with better integrated flavours for me ...

Me too, Jules. I keep coming back to Peru, Columbia and Brazil for my coffee.

This is a lovely Guatemalan with a strong blackberry zest to it ...
