I will definitely give that a try Tim - it's available ground as well so next time I'm in Waitrose I'll pick one up.
I've always enjoyed Taylors coffee in the past.

Taylors are consistently good, if a little expensive and MOR, but this is on offer at the moment for £3.50. I think you may find it more agreeable than the Suarez Project Columbian.

I'm just trying the Taylors Cacao Superior Colombia on your recommendation, Tim. It's smooth and rich and a little chocolatey. Nice!

I can't take any credit for that Martin as it was recommended by Justin (User211) over on AoS. It is rather good for a supermarket coffee though
Came across this yesterday, anyone got £80.00 for a smart mug? James Hoffman if you don't know, is the owner of Square Mile Coffee in London - a very good (if a tad expensive) independent roaster. He also wrote The World Atlas of Coffee which is a good read if you're into coffee.

I'll check that out later Tim. Here is the best cappuccino I've ever had, and fortunately it is served at a local cafe.

Shopping at Waitrose today so bought the Taylors Columbian and also a Brazilian.
Just tried the Columbian. Not quite in the fan club just yet but maybe brewed for a little too long. I will have to report back on the second innings ...

Nope I don't like that Columbian!
A bit disappointed with both my Taylors coffee - just tried the Brazilian and it's more to my taste but nothing to write home about.

I had a cup this morning and it's nice. It's quite strong and I keep the brew time to 45s max.

This might be interesting, when you get a grinder, try the beans and see if there's any difference? Might not be, but would be interesting to try.
I think you're a Brazilian for sure Jules

I've tried the Columbian three times now. It's best around Martin's 45 secs but still find it a bit too viscous and lacking in subtlety.
I've tried too many coffees recently! I'd be happy to find something I could stick to for a while ...

Jules, have you tried the Café Direct Macchu Picchu Peru? It's a good reliable coffee for me.

I've a certain sinking feeling that I'm lurching to yet another obsession. I've just agreed to buy one of these along with a high quality conical hand grinder (ooh er...). Mine will be 20 years old, which is relatively young as they pretty much last forever and parts are very available. Loads of learning about making coffee will be required as precision is needed and some mechanical tinkering too.

A nice little haul arrived this morning. All in handy 125g sizes - very rare to see this offered but for sampling a coffee you don't know it's a great option.

What up coffee lovers?
Here's a surprise for me. For weeks I've been struggling with my Aeropress as the rubber seal has been slipping when pressing the plunger down. Been driving me crazy. Every time I used it there was a horrible sense of nervousness that it's going to happen!
So I've just bought a new seal. What has really surprised me, apart from the gently Bentley smooth plunge, is that the coffee tastes totally different! It is extracting much more flavour. I guess what is happening is that the slower and more controlled the plunge is, the stronger the extraction is. Very smooth and clean tasting too.

Nothing much - I'm still drinking mostly Café Direct blends and am working my way through the packet of paper filters before deciding which metal filter to buy. My seal remains good.
