Looks like fun. Have you got a suitable power supply? I see you will be buying it from someone in Lancashire. Be very careful about dealing with people who live there - they are not to be trusted. And what's more, don't believe a word they say.

You could start by running it from a car battery, if you need to test it.

Gimme a shout if you need anything Chris.
A battery or laptop supply will get you up and running. These can sound surprisingly good.

I'm amazed at how cheap it is, I know the components cost very little but surely the guy needs to make a little profit

And what's more, don't believe a word they say. We have a running battle on the rig over black pudding. A Lancashire guy INSISTS Bury black pudding is the best but everyone in their right mind knows that Stornoway black pudding is better. Some people...

chicken breast slashed in half/Stornoway black pudding squashed into a sausauge shape jammed in the middle/wrap ayshire bacon round the chicken breast held in place with tooth picks skewering the whole shebang....some new potatoes boiled and rolled in butter!!!
Stornoway black pudding is smoother because its sheep's blood not pigs....it can take the Pepsi challenge any day of the week..
I digress...The amp looks like fun!!!

Well, I'm a soft shandy swilling southerner living up here in the north doing long term missionary work but I have eaten black pud all my life - and having lived in Scotland (E and West), N-E England and Lancashire, as well as spending a lot of time in S-W Ireland (all having their own version of the black stuff) I prefer mine from north of the border. When I was a kid, living in central Africa, anyone coming from home was instructed to bring a stash with them!

.....wrap ayshire bacon round the chicken breast..... Did you hear the one about the woman who goes into butcher's shop and sees the butcher stood with his back to the wall? She says, "Good morning Mr McKenzie, is that yer Ayrshire Bacon?" The butcher steps away from the radiator to serve her and says, "Aye hen, it's awfy cauld oot there the morn' "

I liked the one about the bloke that goes into the butcher and says "can I have a Mince Round please" The butcher says "You can do anything you want mate."
Big juicy Scottish scallops with black pudding are also superb.

I've dug out my TPA3116 amp kit. It is Chinese, but came from a UK Ebay seller for under £10.
The 24v 5A PSU I was using is tied up elsewhere, so I'm using a 12v 1.5A bench power supply instead.
Still sounds very good.

No quaking here, I have seen these and most are based on the Philips/SGS chip, the National did a design. After I left Magnum, Tony used a chip of the same family, it had no balls at all and was fragile to loads changes, be warned do not use on speaker you want to keep alive. Try this circuit did it today just for you. s1148.photobucket.com/user/colinwonfor1/media/baby%20amp_zpsigfkih65.jpg.htmlOK not got the hang of this yet, hey man I only design amps and cables, no software things, give me a break please.

Long-tailed pair with a current sink, standard driver configuration with quiescent current adjuster, common collector push-pull output pair with over-volt drive protection, standard overall NFB with compensation, Zobel network on the output? Presumably class AB.

It is a standard or basic design configuration, but it does sound nice and worked first time, and only took a few hour to draw. But it is a much better sounding beast than those overrated Si Chips.

Presumably class AB. Sorry Overvolt should read over current me thinks. Yes AB but is can be pushed into A if you have the heatsink. And selection of the right lets say 10uF cap can make some hell of a amp. Did you see no FET's phew I had to take a pill after drawing that. A similar circuit to this I used in the TQ Atom.
