You prefer the A77's to the 'PR99'? No but they were cheap I have 2 PR99s already and 4 A-77s a G36 and I bought a B-77 today. I will sell one or two A-77s and try and finf a C-270 for the set.

An interestig afternoon, I needed to check out one of my PR 99s and I was looking for a tape to play and found the production master of the soundtrack to the Geoff Stern film Underground. The tracks were written by Geoff's brother Pete (a producer and composer in his own right) and Gail Ann Dorsey, Dajd Bowie's bass player and many time duettist, she and Pete were a band at the time and as I had produced the demos that got them their deal with CBS they asked me to produce the film sound track and a 12" EP to accompany the film.
I had not heard it in years and the Mrs. Had never heardit as it was in the 80s, way before we met. It was such a blast that she really liked it and the energy off the tape was something else. Good analogue tape just cannot be bettered in my opinion. I also found the 30ips master of the EP I may transfer that to 15ios and Wav at some point and do a comparison.

What a great find. Does it sound noticeably different on the different decks?

I've only played it on the PR99 and one of the A77s and to my ears, the 99 has less noise, but the 77 has more detail. Older and more dicreet component in the 77 perhaps, way more dynsmics on the 99 though. This is recorded on Agfa PEM 468 with 0dB set at plus 7 and the bias really cooking. It whomps out. It's a collection of real 80s electro tracks and atmospheric pieces. I got the Red Rose at the Turin Film Festival fir it and an honarable mention at the Edinburgh Film Fest, so I must of been doing something right.
