A very rare appearance in the UK by Evgeny Kissin next year - www.barbican.org.uk/music/event-detail.asp?ID=20651The poor chap is only in his 40's but already seems to have garnered the status of a legend ... Should be quite an evening, another one I must try and get to.

We're off to Prom 36 tomorrow with a theme of unfinished symphonies. Schubert Symphony No. 8 following by Mahler Symphony No. 10 (the Deryck Cooke performing version). Really looking forward to it.

Thanks, Jules. I don't particularly like the Barbican as a venue and I detest getting there from where we live, but I'll have a browse to see what's on.

Ha - I adore it as a venue and it's an easy bus ride for me!
I'm going to book a few concerts but the highlight for me is Nigel Kennedy plays Bach. I'm not a massive fan of his but I've got a feeling this is going to be epic -
Fri 14 Dec 7.30pm Academy of Ancient Music: Nigel Kennedy plays Bach JS Bach Orchestral Suite No 2 in B minor BWV 1067 Violin Concerto No 2 in E major BWV 1042 Violin Partita No 1 in B minor BWV 1002 (orch Kennedy) Concerto for two violins in D minor BWV 1043 Academy of Ancient Music Richard Egarr director & harpsichord Nigel Kennedy violin Thomas Gould violin

I've got Martha Argerich / Mischa Maisky / Janine Jansen trio coming up at the Barbican - fingers crossed it isn't cancelled as I'm rather excited about that one! Also got the Dvorak Cello Concerto with cellist of the moment Gautier Capucon ...

Good luck with that concert, Jules. Martha's attendance record isn't great.

My credit card took a battering this morning booking tickets for the new season at the Barbican.
Very pleased to have got tickets for the Nigel Kennedy Bach. Also really looking forward to seeing newcomer Sheku Kanneh-Mason's cello recital. He was fabulous when I saw him winning BBC Young Musician 2016.

Sorry Jules, we were fighting through endless bank holiday traffic to Studland Bay and back yesterday. It wasn't worth it!
Glad it was a great concert!

We left London at 8am to avoid the crowds on way to the South Coast and did it in two hours, no probs ...
Wasn't quite as fun on the way back this evening of course!

Nice, Jules. I would have preferred that concert to a crowded beach any day.
