Not sure I'd like the Four Seasons broken up like that.

I've got the fabulous Beatrice Rana at the Barbican this week, then the ballet in Montreal, followed by the Mozart Grand Mass in Quebec!

Have booked early for this Purcell opera concert with Joyce DiDonato and Fatma Said next year - my mother is a big fan of the former whilst I'm a new admirer of the latter, so a perfect concert outing for us ... www.barbican.org.uk/whats-on/2024/event/dido-and-aeneasMartin you should book for this!

Despite the discussion on the Fatma Said page, I'm not a great lover of opera and will have to check this out first.

Me neither but I heard Purcell songs the other week at T4S concert and was spellbound by much of the music.

I think the concert I'm most looking forward to now has Kirill Gerstein playing Ravel's Concerto for the Left Hand and also Scriabin's Poem of Ecstasy - both are absolutely epic in the concert hall. Let's see how Susanna Mälkki gets on with these, it's the first time I will be going to one of her concerts.

That looks a fab concert Martin. Esther Yoo is a fine performer and you have some lovely Sibelius for an appetiser!

Ahh, got my dates wrong by a week so I won't be going to B8 after all. Damn that was going to be epic with Sir Mark Elder on the podium ...

Oh what a shame, Jules, the 8th under Elder would be rather epic.

I do have a consolation.
Simon Rattle + LSO = Shosta 4.
And Isabelle Faust playing the Brahms.
Tough one to reach the standard set by Nicola B last year!

I am close to finishing my live Mahler cycle.
Just secured tickets for the 2nd with the outstanding Michael Tilson Thomas at the Barbican on Oct 23. There are two performances and the first is sold out. Opportunities to see him on the podium now are naturally scarce and I am expecting a special evening.

The 2nd is a fantastic symphony, Jules, you should enjoy that.
I have heard it a few times, one of the best being with Tennstedt.
The best 2nd ever heard live...? The Rattle! <ducks>
