I've got a heavyweight piano recital tomorrow at Wigmore Hall - the boy Lugansky just playing Rach, including the Etudes-tableaux which he's recorded twice for immortality.

The full 23-24 programme at the Barbican is now online. It will hit me hard in the wallet - I've found ten that I like and could have easily chosen more... www.barbican.org.uk/classicalmusic2324

They really need to work on that website, the ability to quickly browse events including the actual music is non-existent.

I'm looking for a suitable venue to hear the Saint Saens Organ Concerto. Prime contender would appear to be Symphony Hall, Birmingham. They appear to have the necessary tools and the added advantage of the excellent organist, Thomas Trotter. Read on ... bmusic.co.uk/what-we-do/who-we-are/history/organ

Yes, Trotter is a tremendous player. That concert hall does look marvellous. Our visit is coming soon!

Well I've decided on the CBSO for the SS OC, LOL.
It has the added bonus of the Poulenc Concerto - sold!

The Poulenc Organ Concerto is no "added bonus", I'll have you know!

Continuing my Mahler symphony cycle of different concerts, I will be going to Mahler 1 with the Halle at the estimable Bridgewater Hall in Manchester this Thursday.

The Poulenc Organ Concerto is no "added bonus", I'll have you know! Got a nice ticket when booking opened this morning for the Organ recital at Symphony Hall in September - never heard the Saint Saens live so really looking forward to it ...

It's fabulous live - I hope the Symphony Hall organ gets the same 'amphitheatre effect' as the orchestra.

On Wednesday I am seeing the excellent Ingrid Fliter with an all Schumann recital at the Queen Elizabeth Hall on the Southbank. The Etudes symphoniques will form the main course.

This Thursday I have my second Prom and will be hearing the very highly rated 20 year old Spanish violinist, María Dueñas, playing the Symphonie Espagnole.
The rest of this concert features Ravel, Debussy and Falla with Spanish tinged music ... Should be most colourful.

My final Prom tonight - hope the Halle are on form with Sir Mark.
Shosta 5 + Rach is my kind of programme.

Let me know what you think of Gardner - I wasn't sure whether to bother with his Mahler 2 in September.

Next week I am attending an epic trilogy of concerts.
Monday at Wigmore Hall, Tuesday at the Barbican and Wednesday at Symphony Hall, Birmingham. I think this is a first for me!
