What a fantastic collectors item. I would love to do a full restoration on a project like that.

Worth it if the drivers are still good.

Agreed. I was thinking of the drivers being used for, for example, Cambridge R40s.

Here's an MRM Source for sale with a Zeta 'refurbished' by Kj West One - should be a match made in heaven... Would love to hear one on my deck. www.ebay.co.uk/itm/152526123657

Nice - Don't tell anyone though, but it looks like it's got a Kiseki Blue Agate mounted on the Zeta!

Anybody have any experience with this beauty? www.ebay.co.uk/itm/182531496738I recently came across the model for the first time in a May 1992 edition of H-Fi News... 24kg of battleship CDP, with 60mm of hard-coated walnut housing and anti-vibration feet. The internal DAC was enclosed in an 8mm hardened aluminium block. Its GT suffix apparently stood for Gigantic and Tremendous and incorporated Yamaha's new proprietary single bit DAC and an on board digital clock acted as a master to overcome jitter. Definitely 1990's excess but it looks gorgeous...

Yes, I remember that review and suggested to a friend just a few weeks ago that it might just be the very thing that he's always been looking for in a CD player.

...and did he Chris? If not, for £2.5K he could let us know

No, he's messing about with some ridiculous concoction with valves in it!

Sorry, I thought you meant you'd suggested it back in 1992 Chris, not recently... message to myself, make sure you read posts properly before posting

I was totally disinterested in CD players at the time but that review stuck in my memory for some reason, apparently making some sort of good impression. I don't think many of them made it to the UK, though I have seen one on Ebay before now - maybe 3 or 4 years ago.

It was a new one on me and I was surprised to find one on the bay. Listed on the mag as ¥500,000 in Japan, which at today's rate is just under £3.5K. If I had £2.5K of loose change rattling about and no buzzing equipment, I'd love to give it a go...

Nice - Don't tell anyone though, but it looks like it's got a Kiseki Blue Agate mounted on the Zeta! I wonder if he is including that in the auction ... Price is up to £1400 but it still hasn't met the reserve yet ... The Zeta is worth about £600 isn't it?

Depends whether it comes with the wooden box and all the bits. Also the cabling will affect the price (wrongly in my opinion). £500-£800
