Technics SL-10 - Beautiful iconic design in fantastic condition. I have a friend with one. A gorgeous piece of kit and still works faultlessly.

Technics SL-10 - Beautiful iconic design in fantastic condition. Would love to try it. I had an SL7 - I thought it a bit bland and uninteresting, not a patch on a 'proper' turntable - although Adam 'beobloke' chastised me heavily for that view. I've heard say that the 10 is a lot better than the 7, though.

Not what I wanted to hear Jerry ! I'm currently looking to try one but not sure which model (SL-10 is out of budget).

I stumbled across a discussion from '09 where Dave [DJSR] said he'd always found the SL-7 bland sounding and suggested it was likely due to the standard cart - What did you have on yours out of interest ?

I was about to say the same thing: I think some of the lesser Ortofons supplied with the SL-7 didn't help its cause at all.

Aha, we may have the beginnings of a consensus Theres a nice condition SL-5 locally that finishes tomorrow but looks a little too low-fi even for me.

Mine has been lightly modded (and significantly improved) by Tony Sallis (Coherent Audio) - and is up for sale.

I'm a bit shocked at agreeing with Dave about anything audio, though!

This is perhaps the most surprising album title that I've ever seen.

Had a couple Technics Linear Trackers in my youth, and yes "Bland" sums em both up pretty well.
Aye Chris the Jap's are a strange lot...!!!

That's a pretty good deal. The set is one of three Brubeck sets in that series. You can get them all on Amazon for £26.50 - that's 22 albums!
