Someday I'd like to hear this CDX CD Player.
I've read the Stereophile CDX review, which was an interesting read. But, I was slightly put off by the description about its sound presentation. Some others described it fairly the same as well.
At least the CDX holds its value well!

I have never found a DVD or Blu-ray player to sound much good when playing CDs.

This is the only one I've ever tried but it shocks me how bad it is every time I wire it up. Bad enough to turn listening into a negative experience for me. They were meant to have excellent sound quality if the reviews are to be believed. I once did a deal with someone who was using some really nice kit with this very player as his source. I'm not the easiest to please when it comes to CD though, so other people might find it more tolerable than I do.

I use a Sony BDP-S1E now and then. It can sound pretty good!

Even using my Pioneer BDP-LX55, a rather good Blu-ray player, as a transport only, music is a mere facsimile of the extraordinary presence and life of my main player.

I didn't even get that close. Mine was more like a 3 yr old's crayon drawing of the original

A bit of a plug but Mike (MikeMusic) has a CDX which he's looking to move on if you're interested in the plunge, I'll let you contact him.

I was looking forward to today: A Copland CSA 14 and another Naim CDX due. Sadly the Copland arrived with a serious fault and almost blew my Snell Js. Looks like it will have to be a return. Pity, because it's a beautifully built and designed amp. As it won't produce anything but gunshot sounds, I Have no idea how it performs sonically. The CDX is OK, although it too didn't work from the off. It appears to have an ill -fitting blanking plug for th Burndy connector. It looks completely different to my last one and is too shallow: stopping 5mm short of the chassis. More importantly this CDX just doesn't sound as good as the one I let my mate have. Condition isn't quite as good either. maybe I'll feel better about it after the Copland disappointment wears off. Just when I thought today had been crap enough, our outside drains blocked and I ended up having to rod them. Still, the sun is shining and I can always buy another Copland.

I've always rather liked the elegance of Copland equipment.

I've been away from home for a bit, but a few additions have been waiting for my return. First up, a pair of SBLs owned previously by Malcolm Steward. They needed a bit of work but are looking smart now and juat waiting the stands back from powder coating before I can re-assemble.

And next, a real surprise to me: A Linn Classik. I wanted to indulge my curiosity and expected it to be well short of say, a Linn CD and pre/power. It's not. In fact I could happily live with it. Far better than I expected and oh so convenient.

And finally: I really don't want or need any more speakers but sometimes a rarity pops up and you just can't let it pass. This time it was actually two rarities. A boxed pair of DCM Time Window 1As and also a mint pair of Time Frame TF250s. They only arrived today but both sound special. The scale on offer seems to defy the laws of physics and I love the presentation.

Oh, and I also snapped up one of these (Audio Super Sterling KT120), but a mate nicked it off me before I even had a chance to listen to it. As he is an even more prolific box swapper than I am, it will probably end up back with me before too long. I just love Audion amps and I cannot for the life of me understand why they are so low profile in the UK. If you ever get an opportunity to hear an Audion, please take it.

I'd like to hear the Audion 300B (mk2?) Anniversary someday! They look very nimble.

A friend of mine has a very similar Audion amp and it's really impressive, even with some fairly modest Rega speakers... I suspect it would be even better with some tube-rolling...

Gosh, two pairs of DCMs! If you like the scale of these you may well like some of the big Mirage speakers like my M3si - don't know if you've ever had the pleasure? How do you find the imaging on the Windows?

I have always personally disliked Naim speakers, just sound soo boxy to me!
