I Played all three through my hifi. Played about 20 seconds of each. Sorry to say that I couldn't hear that much difference through your iPad, I think I heared a difference when it came to your Sugden which I liked the most;-)

The Sugden definitely has so many things right. It's hard to argue with it although I will always love Exposure's presentation. The first time I heard the videos I actually thought the Sonneteer sounded best, although it actually came a clear third at the time. That said, the differences weren't huge before the were mangled by the Ipad.
Listening to the videos again, I'm not sure which I prefer. I can certainly hear the distinctive attributes of Exposure and Sugden when playing the videos through headphones.
Thanks for trying them. I would really like to video more bits that pass through but I need to seriously up the sound quality of its to be worthwhile.

Sometimes I am genuinely surprised by the spontaneity of life. I woke up today with only a trip to the dentist to look forward to. Before the sun sets over Newcastle, I find myself with a pair of these in my living room:

Probably an ideal candidate to try with the Campion. I'd forgotten how big they are as it's been a couple of years since my last pair of Js. Hardly any eoom left for me to fit into the room.

The Snell J were/still are great speakers. Fairly easy to drive as well!

Yes, a real surprise that they found their way to me. My mate bought them some time ago and asked me to re-foam them. The foams took forever to arrive and a day before they dropped through his letterbox, he bought a pair of KEF 105/3 and now doesn't have room for the Js. I don't have room either but it didn't stop me buying them from him. Very nice oak veneer was the clincher for me. That and the chance of trying the Campion with a more sensitive speaker.
As much as I like Snell's, they won't be replacing my Spicas. I will enjoy them while they are here though.

I'm still trying to get to know the Campion. I have tried it with the Snell Js which I figured would be an easier load and probably a better match. If they are, I'm not really hearing or feeling it yet but will persevere.
The amp reveals itself to be a pretty suave and slick operator. Much of what it does, I like and it is quite enjoyable. I think I just want a bit more of a brute at the heart of my system. I would always choose Sean Connery over Roger Moore although I still enjoyed the latter's Bond portrayal. So it is with the Campion. For certain moods and music, I'm happy to keep it and continue to play for now. I must say I think it's better with the Spicas than the Snells which surprised me because the latter are a far easier proposition on paper. Maybe that's another speaker myth: paper specs will tell you what works and what doesn't.
It's been fun so far though and I'm sure there's more to come. I will ponder and see if I can think of a better speaker match for the Campion. I'm determined to get the best out of it.

Bought one of these locally yesterday: It's a nice rack but the new price is staggering. Only drawback is that the Exposure IV amps are 19 inch and just a bit too big to fit.mStill, t's tidied up the lounge. I'll post air or two in situ once I get it sorted, .

Very elegant, and it does look pricey.

Hi, yep, a Milan. I am hoping it will be a better match for my needs. I hate crawling rounf trying to plug bits in. Because this is separate elements that can be assembled/disassembled,mit makes cleaning and swapping bits around easier. I put it in place yesterday and have been enjoying listening ever since. Once I get rkd of some more spare bits, I plan to get my turntable back in the living room on the top of the new rack.

Looks good! As an aside, your photo makes me realise that I don't own a single pair of red socks!

I guess it should be black and white given my location I hate long trousers. Never wear the things whenever I can avoid it. Rarely wear socks too unless I'm in and out of the garage. Im glad I was co-ordinated though. T-shirts, shorts and Crocs are my regular thing. I don't own a shirt, let alone a suit and I flatly refuse to wear ties for any occasion. I "rescued" the Milan from a mate who had it dismantled and ready to spray it black! Pity the 19 inch Exposure amps are just too wide but I'm still happy with the look and sound of my system right now. It's been a very long time since I had a tidy system that was a pleasure to use and sounded right.

Cheers, Chris. I'm just relieved to have stopped it from joining the masses of black racks already out there. Custom Design are a great local company, so it's nice to have both their Milan rack and also speaker stands . Back on the day, I used to know the owner, Fred. A real gem of a bloke who would do anything for anyone. He died suddenly and prematurely back in 1987 and his (then) young son, Paul took them from strength to strength.

A brief update on some minor arrivals: I picked up A nice Technics tuner from Istari Knight via EBay, a Manticor Mantra (needs an arm), a Kelvin Labs integrated and a Marantz CD80. All,of these were impulse buys with no real intention of any items replacing my current stuff. All fun though I will post pics in a few days, but right now my greatest pleasure is coming from getting the best out of bits I already own. My Snell JIIIs ended up on 24 inch stands accidentally this week. They look pretty silly: Akin to Oak traffic lights but they sound so much better it's scarcely believable that they are the same speaker. Image height is a major factor for me and it's something I feel makes a huge difference in creating a believable reproduction. Only my opinion here, but I think many "high end" speakers benefit a lot from being "high" (tall). Every speaker I have loved has been either tall, sloped or upward firing. If you get the chance to raise your speakers, mive it a go. It may or may not work for you, but it's a fun experiment and will cost you little or nothing initially. Your better half may not like it, but you really might. My "traffic lights" are certainly staying put.

One of the benefits I found in going tall (first to Mezzo Utopias and now to the Be-20s) is exactly as you say: image height seems improved but so is focus, creating the impression of a larger 'walk around' soundstage. My room is not conducive to massive imaging - the speakers are too close to the rear wall - but it's still pretty good considering they are large speakers in a medium size room.

Here are the bits that have just arrived. The CD player came from Hifi Hangar, who are a real gem of a dealer IMHO. They are far from greedy with prices, they pack well and get a fabulous range of kit across their doorstep. So friendly to deal with too. I must have bought about 7 bits from them in the past year and all have been gems. I paid £85 for the CD80' on a buy it now, which I feel is about half what it's worth. The Mantra will be with me until I find and fit an arm. It's a pretty thing, so I'm in no rush to see it go. The Kelvin may well cost me more to fix than it's worth, but it's such a little cutie, I don't mind. The speakers.........won't be replacing my Spicas but I did need something to test new bits with and these were a fire on EBay and local to me.

Nice, the Kelvin stuff tickled my interest back when it was current. Good sounding but a bit Massey Ferguson meets Maplin on the built quality!
