Now that's making a statement ?

And the statement is:
"Stand me on one end and I'm Robbie the Robot doing star jumps!"

Andrew. I have an aversion to pain and ongoing problems and found a deep tissue massage guy that reaches parts of my body I didn't know I had. He knows muscles, tendons and cartilage inside out
Have you tried one of them ? Assume you've tried the physios, chiros and similar

I've had physio but that was really just to try and give my hand a more normal shape and to restore some power to my arm muscles. I'm still improving in strength and dexterity but I could really do with getting shot of the dizziness and lack of co-ordination. It's akin to being slightly tipsy in the way it affects me. I still ride but I have to be very careful not to put myself in any position that requires fine judgement or good spatial awareness. That means off-road only for now.

I'm in Cyprus right now and I've brought my Duson amp out to partner the Minstrels Mary brought here a few weeks ago. Initial impressions were terrible, but swapping the speakers over to make the ports fire outwards really helped. It still needs some room treatment though as the bass seems to boom and smear the rest. I'm experimenting with cushions and absorbent material but will order some proper stuff when I get a better understanding.
I'm just using my IPad/iPod and I need some more of the Chris cable our here to replace the LS2 I brought. A better source and cables should bring rewards.

I hope Cyprus works out well for you Andrew.
Did you come to any conclusions about all the cdp's you have been trying?
I've hardly used my Shanling and my Consonance is just sitting on a table as I haven’t been bothered to send it for repair yet...

I really liked the Sonneteer best of the three, Jules. I gave it up to a friend though as he really wanted it. Not having the Sonneteer around, I very quickly settled with the Consonance. I found it very satisfying albeit not so lively as the Sonneteer. It's such a pleasure to use too.

I've decided to take a sabbatical from hifi and also forum life. I want to take some time to decide what I want to do with the rest of my life. Right now I'm enjoying the outdoor life too much to want to spend time online or sat in front of a hifi. Not sure when I will be back as I really want to explore new pursuits and completely change my lifestyle.
I guess my "on-off" affair with hifi is getting switched back off for a while. Good luck and all the best to everyone.

Well, it's been great to have you here up until now Andrew. Pretty sure it's a standby switch rather than am on/off switch though. Have fun doing the outdoor stuff and I expect we'll be seeing more of you further down the track.
Cheers and all the best.

Here's a pic of the OA21 I bought. It's sat in the UK waiting for me: P And I also bought a Duson pre/power combo. The integrated I bought last year is the best integrated I've owned bar none. This new pairing will be special, Although I'm unlikely to hear them at their best in my current setup. Still, their day will come....

Let us know how both work out. The Duson pair look interesting.

Let us know how both work out. The Duson pair look interesting. I found out a bit more about Duson recently. They were formerly French and made essentially the same amps under the name "Audioanalyse". Their amps are heavily biased into class A, whilst packing quite a punch. The one in the pics is the B100 (previously Audioanalyse B90). It puts out its first 22 watts in class A, but is specified as 100wpc into 8 ohms. My intention is to seek out its big brother over time (first 60 watts in class A) and bi-amp. Im only going off the "iron fist in a velvet glove" sound of the baby integrated I own. As long as I get more if the same, I will be delighted. I can see me collecting more of their stuff as I love the design of the CD players and tuner too.

Here's a pic of the OA21 I bought. It's sat in the UK waiting for me: I had no idea that Onix were still going! www.onixdna.com/products/onix-dna-50Onix have such a chequered history, I've forgotten many of the details. I seem to recall a long thread on PFM detailing it. The name was picked up by an overseas outfit at one stage and I remmeber it being disputed. Tony Brady, the guy who co-designed (?) the OA21 is now head man at Exposure. Adam Worsfold runs the resurrected Onix, I believe and has been true to its original principles. I hope I've got at least some of that right. If anyone has a fuller history, I created a thread on Onix amps and it would be lovely to see it expand to honour this iconic brand.

Your Onix looks in tidy condition! Have you compared the OA21 to Naim side by side?

Not that I recall. Closest I came was Sound Org demos on different days. With ES14s the Naims were better to my ears (62/HiCap/140) but the Onix still drove the Epos with ease, which isn't something you can say about many integrateds. It was also with an LP12, so the quality of the phono stage would be a factor. With a different speaker or CD source, the results may have been reversed. The Onix certainly breathes a bit more "air" into recordings and has almost the same level of drive.
My latest one certainly looks to be a fine example. I hope it's as good in the flesh. The only reason I sold previous ones was the condition. Such a classic design means there's nowhere to hide if there's a mark. I've wanted a perfect one for many years.

Did the seller mention anything about servicing? Or, is this Onix all original?
