I have one of these excellent little amps and would like to upgrade the power supply as I'm sure it has more to give . Can anyone please suggest a suitable linear power supply before I blow all my crimbo money on one of these : www.custom-hifi-cables.co.uk/home/power-supplies/dc-power-suppliesThe specs for PSU for this amp are down at the bottom of the page I have linked to .

Do these really make a difference ? Having tweaked my Squeezebox Touch with software mods the improvement is marked. I was wondering about a battery PSU but the more I read, the more doubt there seemed to be. Has anyone tried a different PSU with their Squeezebox and what were the results ? Anyone have a spare PSU I can borrow to try out

Powering items like these by battery or a quality Linear PSU can make a big difference to SQ , however the only way to find out is to try one and see .

Like Brian says they can make a difference. No idea if they help the Touch but think Martin had positive results

Both Nick Lurcher or Paul Hynes could build you what you need.

Yes they could, and it would probably be better, but it would cost more.
I'd be tempted to go the battery route Brian.

Ah ok, then not sure it will make a big difference, but worth trying given the return policy.

Unfortunately it be one you have to try out that why I suggest get on sale or return. Good report on the site but until you hear for yourself no grantees Do not go down the Lithium battery route that used on the Caiman and Bushmaster it does not work well with the amp

That's interesting John , the lithium battery was going to be another option , so I'll take your advice on that one . I've just had me old mucker Gary ( gazjam ) over to upgrade the server which he built for me nearly 5 years ago . Seperate maplins power supplies for motherboard , processor , and SSD . So 3 in all . I'm listening to music as I write this and IMO this has provided me with a massive upgrade in SQ . I will post more when I'm sure it all has settled in . I'm a very happy chappy

Sounds some good work by Gary. Looking forward to the report I tried a Lithium battery on the Amptastic and it just caused a lot of spiking on the amp so not ideal

Early Rod like with Beck and the small faces is always good. The cleaner you can keep the power in the PC the better. I was blown away a few months back when I heard Tony C Pc system, just stunning and when I can afford I ask him to build me one

Whoops, just saw this comment about not going down the lithium battery route. i assume this includes the phone extender packs - one of which I've just ordered (15000mah, 5v, 2.4 and 2.1 amp twin outputs). ah well, I'll give it a try for less than £30.
