Why a bike battery ? Are they 6v or 12v ? Is any other componentry needed (other than trying to hide the thing) or is it just a straight wiring job ?

Got a link to suitable bike batteries John . One of my major problems was trying to hide the car battery . I take it the bike batteries are much smaller . Also can you charge the bike battery with a normal car charger ?

At £20 it's worth buying and having a go John . I already have the charger . I think you may have a problem posting this when you're interrogated regarding the contents of your parcel . Plus may cost a few bob to post so , for me , probably better to buy and try . Thanks for the offer John.

No worries I think the biggest issue is posting aboard Plenty of batteries on Ebay but do not think it be a improvement in SQ over what you got Can you hide your battery use a longer lead?

Both Nick Lurcher or Paul Hynes could build you what you need. As can I....

Thanks Jez , I've already tried one of these and the battery supply was better . I'm getting the feeling that either I'm going to have to spend a lot more to buy something like you have suggested or I'm barking up the wrong tree here .

I think probably you are barking up the wrong tree... Maybe you are expecting far too much improvement from a power supply!? A sealed lead acid battery is about as good as it gets (something like this www.maplin.co.uk/p/yuasa-12v-sealed-lead-acid-battery-7ah-1-pack-mg47b ). The plug and socket into the amp is a major problem and if the cable is the usual very thin stuff that you normally get with wallwart type supplies then this would be a major factor as well. Power supplies are an area where much is misunderstood by audiophiles.... and much money is made from sometimes foo upgrades marketed to said audiophiles!

Brian, ive always found a big car battery has the edge in sonic terms regards oomph....instant power delivery and finesse in terms of micro details. My set up is all hard wired but your always welcome to plumb the mini t into my rig and give it a whirl on the battery...I have a couple of the original mini t with upgraded psu to give a datum point. The Temple audio mono blocks are my staple but I have always loved the sonic presentation and signature the Minis bring-nice to hear the new one....

Thanks Tony , I'll think I'll follow the suggestion from Jez and optimise the wiring / connections and retry the battery option before I go any further .

I've always hated the super crappy power sockets on DC gear, I've never understood why companies charge say £500 for an audiopile PSU that still uses a DC power connector which are as loose as a goose. Im about to make an LDR pre amp which requires DC but I plan to have a good quality copper IEC power inlet on the outside of the case and a AC/DC converter inside the pre amp, thus avoiding crappy loose connections.

If you use an Oyaide or other good DC plug on your cable, it will at least make a good connection with said poor DC power socket.
These are available from MCRU.
