One of my hobbies is collecting SF Paperbacks from the '60's. It's Leslie Charteris 'The Saint' books from the late 1920s onwards that I collect. Really excellent reads, right up there with Fleming but were never as successful. Forget all the TV series, which were crap. Here's mine Martin 1967/68 editions. Still have a lot missing..

The Saint Closes the Case and The Saint Meets His Match are my two favourites, and The Saint in London is the funniest, but they're all great reads.
Thanks for the list.
I take it that his car, a Hirondel, was made up and never existed?

I remember the various films and TV series but they were nothing really like the books. The film with Val Kilmer was a travesty.

I have the complete Monocrome & Complete Colour DVD sets of the Roger Moore Saint TV series. Great they are but as you say different.. Now i was only saying to the wife tonight that probably one of the things i disliked was making a TV series out of Dr Who.. I have the two Movies with Peter cushing: 'Daleks, Invasion Earth 2150A.D' & 'Dr Who And The Daleks'they were great but i can't be doing with the TV series..

Anything to do with the Genesis track " Deep In The Motherload" from 'And Then There Were Three'? It was a song based on something to do with the Gold Rush {Around that date Chris} As you know the lyric "Go West Young Man" is in the song.
Just a thought.

It is, isn't it? I think the phrase comes from before the goldrush though, the full thing was "Go west, young man and grow up with the country". There was a film called that too, not to mention the accursed Village People and Pet Shop Boys song!

The Daleks have featured too many times in recent series, they have lost their power to be scary.
