Day 6 with some 144 hours on the Sig Rendu Deluxe so far, much of it with Tara Labs burn-in. The energy levels have risen, together with more vibrancy and excitement. I think 'energy' is the best way of describing what I am hearing as the normal descriptive phrases don't fit how the SRDL is settling into its new level of performance. Just one track as an example: Mavis Staples - Eyes on the Prize. This standard 16/44 track can sound quite flat on an ordinary system and, as my system has improved, has sounded very good towards the end of the song. Now - bang - it's vivid and exciting from the start and just gets better. Wonderful. open.qobuz.com/track/77650104

It's contemporary jazz Martin, so might not be your thing. I've seen contemporary jazz when I used to go to the Bass Clef quite often. This is a good sounding combo and well recorded. In small doses, it's enjoyable, and I say that about most jazz. Of all jazz, I've probably seen Diana Krall the most often, but then I like her voice and love her piano playing.

As live albums go, it's a bit distant, coloured, sibilant and lacking in impact so lies between the really poor ones and a great live document. Saying that, some of their greatest songs like Child of the Universe, For No One and Mockingbird are nice to hear performed live.
It's an interesting album but, for me, doesn't usurp the original studio recordings. 3/5.

There are people that say they *like* Newsom's voice They are madder than the bint making that racket.

Nice purchase, Mike. It's a very good USB cable, that.

As long as you don't subject me to Rufus Wainwright or Joanna Newsom, I'm happy.

I think it makes logical sense, since the Weiliang with its lower current capability is working within its limits running the router while the Zero Zone is more butch and has better regulation to run the current hungry EtherREGEN. Moving the 6D power cable to the ZZ makes sense, too.
I have spare Coherent DC cables, let me get them to you next time we meet.

Hardest part of the Gustard DACs mesh work, is deciding which screws to loosen to take the lid off LOL - yes, that does take some working out! Those are some long bolts.

Nice tool, Damien. I might want one of those to go with my noise meter.
Could you let us have the link, please?

Still at it Martin, when will you ever stop? LOL the new SR pink fuses are now out. I have slowed down! I know about the Pinks but there is only so much mucking around I want to do right now. Leaving the Rendu upgrade to fully burn-in and the system to stabilise. It's sounding sublime, I have found that good balance of whipcrack dynamics, big soundstage, subterranean bass and non-harsh presentation.

Appointment required for my GP but can drop in at the hospital. They do need a blood request on the computer, though.

What's really going on outside the SILO . . . that's the question? All you have to do is say "I want to go outside" and you'll find out

The sound quality is good but I have to admit that the difference between CD and HiRes is not that much for me What I have found after a few years of listening is that the recorded quality in terms of mic setup, mixing and mastering are far more important than the digital format, provided it's at least 16/44 (CD) level. Where hi-res pulls forward is if the recording is already good then there is more goodness in evidence in hi-res formats where the spuriae are pushed further up away from the audio band. To my ears, there is a general openness to the soundstage and finer treble detail, such as brushed cymbal work, in the higher res formats.
