I've had this album for a while, this thread prompted me to play it again. The weather outside is freezing fog....the music is so atmospheric and textured. It works with the weather and my mood. Really stunning.

BH says it takes over 3 mins but completes is just ovet 1 min. I'm using SD but haven't properly checked whether it's necessary as I'm so entranced with how it's working.

In recent months BugHead has been restricted to processors with AVX2 instructions. I finally gave in and purchased a custom assembled miniPC, fanless in a nifty small chassis. It's got an ASUS H110T motherboard with a Skylake i5, 960GB SSD. Vs my Ivy Bridge laptop i5 I find that Foobar sounds significantly better with the new kit. The combination of the new kit and the latest BugHead player has resulted in a really big step up in sound quality. I can't quantify how much of the improvement is the hardware and how much is due to the latest BugHead using AVX2 instructions. Both seem to be making a good contribution. My RPi3/Digi+ had been getting close to the sound of the older BugHead on my laptop. The latest BugHead on Skylake blows the RPi3 in the the weeds....BugHead/Skylake may even better my vinyl setup.

I love the reclocking in the SEG, it sounds marvellous. Is there a mode setting which should be best to take advantage of the internal reclocking?

It makes the recent BBC attempt to have all the production and writing quality of Dr Who in the 60s. Quaint and great for its time but past its sell by date. GT was great on our big screen. The sound was good too.

I'm running the latest Volumio. Something strange today....the IP address changed, it's not done this before. Is this a router or Pi issue? I've rebooted a couple time, it sticking to its new address, for now.
edit: oh I've realised what I did that was different. I restarted the Pi without the usual usb drive attached.

I CBA to to do the comparisons but I'd like to think the improvements in sound come not so much from switched to unswitched mains sockets but an old tarnished socket being changed for a shiny new one. Then there's those pesky life saving fuses adding yet more connections and of course switched IEC sockets too. There is a some logic to building a hardwired system into a single box.

Martin, I'm waiting for Saturday when you first hear your system in the new room....I won't hear but I'm keen to know how it goes! The room is so important and this should be a decent one.

Had Hamilton been responsible for building his own engines then his lifestyle could be to blame for his current position in the championship. If we're going to talk lifestyles then what about Rosberg? Maybe his lack of racecraft (all too obvious deliberate collisions) might be down to his having a very young child...I mean what's he thinking by becoming a father whilst being a racing driver? Seriously though, people need a life outside of work.

And surely there was doubt on Hamiltons move across the grass at the beginning of the race ? Should have been a penalty !! It was for Max at the end of the race. I didn't think it was comparable as Hamilton did not gain an advantage whereas Verstappen gained a place. Also it was the first corner where rather more latitude tends to be shown. He also clearly locked up and as we later found out this was because his front left brake pad was glazed.

Did you try volumeio.local? On Android you have to use the ip address.

Volumio V2.001 is available. It updates via the menu option in System. I've not played any music yet but I have verified that it now saves the playback options across restarts.

Each track is a file. The new queue system in Volumio 2 is the culprit. Did it happen with Volumio 1, and if not have you thought of "upgrading" to a better functioning distro? I shpuld only have to wait a few days for the next version. If I go back in versions it may not support the RPi3. I play vinyl mostly anyway... it's far less picky and sounds better but is somewhat more expensive.

Redbook rip.... it's a 44.1/16 WAV. How have you managed to get Gaps if its WAV! Each track is a file. The new queue system in Volumio 2 is the culprit.

It seems gapless went for a Burton when V2 came out. The latest tedt version has gapless as of 26th Sept. I'll wait for the official release.
RPi / Volumio was supposed to make my life easier.....

Running my 6 times faster 3....is there a Volumio setying for gapless? I'm playing a live album..with gaps. LMS has had gapless playback for hundreds of years (well as far back as I can remember). Is it any wonder why I don't go looking for the latest flavour of the month? I keep hearing trumpets about "it does this now", and my thoughts are usually along the lines of "LMS has done this from day one". Can't answer your question Clive, but I hope someone has an answer for you. So does BugHead (have gapless)....maybe I need that for live albums.
