We all knew Evri & Amazon would be a disaster.
Apparently this evening Evri "Delivered to safe place". Is the step in front of a block of flats safe???
No attempt to ring the bell, I just get an email to say it was delivered. WTF?

Five gents? Where are the audiophile ladies? It's crazy this game seems to be so male dominated ... I'm keeping my powder dry and will await the reputable, sound of mind and body, gentlemen's testing results. But I sense that the second hand market will be awash with 1st gen LB clocks before too long. I suspect not that many current LB clocks will come up for sale, the new one is a very different product aimed squarely at the audio section with performance & connectability in mind Jules. Ah, is that a coded warning that it's going to be very expensive Tony??

Ouch, this is rather harsh. It really depends what your expectations are and budget. Most systems have to be assembled without limitless funds. My £500 Topping actually performs *way* beyond what my expectations were for it and in the context of my system I don't think I could have done much better at the price. Sorry, Jules, I absolutely wasn't thinking of anyone when typing that, but more the morons on ASR. My point being that assembling a high end system that justifies hi-res (the topic of this thread) doesn't work by cutting corners. You could even point to my Gustard DDC/DAC combo as being just about adequate in the company of my no-holds-barred Rendu streamer. What do you think would tempt you if moving on the Gusthard?

How did you get on with it Martin?
Also interesting that it's recorded with an Italian orchestra.

"Rebalances the AC sine wave" That's probably a euphemism for a balanced transformer. So a more accurate description might be a "conditioning balanced power supply"?

Thank you, Martin. I landed a good job a couple of months ago. Am hoping to position myself just right in there to be able to take a vacation or two in a couple of years. Will be great to see you guys and hear some high end systems and drink some rain...pints I mean pints. Rum for me thanks. And for anyone that doesn't drink then tea or juice is fine too. Congrats on getting the job upgrade and hope you are able to do the trips you like. If you make it across the pond we will definitely get on the rum ...

Yes, I will upgrade it in due course but it's not a huge compulsion.

I thought the Puritan was a mains conditioner but looking at the blurb I'm not sure if it does regen -
"Rebalances the AC sine wave"

Tonight I'm enjoying Slovenian Riesling!
I actually bought it by accident on a rare foray to our rather underwhelming local Oddbins - didn't read the label properly and assumed it was German. It's deliciously clean and crisp summer wine with a hint of sweetness, great VFM.

Right, I'm back in the saddle after a short break. Heads up MartinT! A new Respighi trilogy from the fabulous Robert Trevino who stunned both myself and Martin with his electric Mahler at Birmingham's Symphony Hall.

I hoped to get to UK in 2 or 3 years for vacation and to visit TAS friends, Jules. If we can't see King Diamond let's go to a good show in his honor. Though would be incredible if he was playing. Would be the show of a lifetime. Yes that would be very cool, let's hope the stars can align!

He also wrote some of the early Whitesnake hits including the immortal Fool for your Loving. Nuff said.

I only know the big hits from the 80's and always loved them.

If only the same could be said for the specimen from Amazon today!
I notice that some companies are using Amazon as a delivery service. I'd bought my son a nice shirt which this guy didn't bother bringing to my door and didn't even bother putting it safely out of the way in the communal area - he just slung it on the floor like trash. Nice.
