Ha! For years I didn't like any metal later than NWOBHM but changed my mind thanks to the boy John on this forum. Still love the old guys though - was lucky enough to see Iron Maiden in London recently with my son.
Very interested to see you enjoy opera - I'm not a fan myself but addicted to most other formats of classical music. You will have to give us some recommendations for Second Vienna School over in the classical section as I'm not so familiar ...

I discovered this Japanese guitarist thanks to my son. An amazing talent in neo-classical shredding ...

I couldn't agree more. It depresses me that she has to deal with this kind of crap in this day and age. I am sure that she will continue doing what she wants though and more power to her!

Hi Achim, I've just returned to the UK from Germany as it happens - a lovely visit to the beautiful Dresden. I'm hoping to return for a concert from one of the orchestras there. What kind of music do you enjoy?

I can only applaud DH for taking a firm stance on the casual sexism and misogyny thrown at Yuja Wang on his channel. The comments on Slipped Disc can be just as unpleasant.
One thing that baffles me which Dave didn't mention is that very often these comments come from women! You couldn't make it up. It's a neo-Victorian attitude towards what they consider prim, proper and socially acceptable behaviour. Just incredible.

Ah, so the Kocsis approach is starting to make a lot more sense! Thanks for that Paul and the recordings, neither of which I'm familiar with. I'll be interested to hear any comments, Jules, especially about Alain Lefèvre's playing of the piece. I'll sample them both Paul.

The Amazon dude actually came upstairs and put the parcel in my hand today.

Imagine if you spent your day in one of those chat centres, completely unable to help anyone and forced to go off a script. Must feel like an alternate reality.

Same happened to me with sky. Switched to Vodafone. Great deal, better speeds and router.. Hi Steve, could you tell me how you are getting on with Vodafone? Is it as reliable as Sky and fit for streaming TV? They are offering a very good deal at present with similar speed to Sky.

That promo is excellent too.

Well the 5g performance has been massively better today and after short drops to 4g it switched back to 5g without me needing to reset the router. Needless to say I'm not opening the champagne just yet!!

PC 4 is, supposedly, the most jazzy, from what I've read, and Rachmaninov openly admitted to being influenced by American Jazz music Ah, so the Kocsis approach is starting to make a lot more sense! Thanks for that Paul and the recordings, neither of which I'm familiar with.

Yes lots of very good PC2's but many of them take a similar approach which is why I find the Kocsis so interesting...

When it comes to the Rachmaninov Piano Concertos I don't look much further than the two Ashkenazy sets with Previn and Haitink. I do have a few other individual recordings of interest. So I was wondering about casting the net wider and courtesy of Mr Hurwitz I have found Zoltan Kocsis with Edo de Waart and the SF Symphony - DH calls these "reference recordings". I have started with PC 2 and it's so far very idiosyncratic - a very brisk intro indeed ... I'm also noting some really jazz influenced playing and phrasing with those early wistful, soul searching interludes. Certainly unlike anything I have heard before! www.theguardian.com/music/2016/nov/11/zoltan-kocsis-obituary

Interesting. I was told online to take the modem to local store for support. I may be wasting my time then. I'll try it once if required and that's it. Given what I have read on Three Community boards I'm not going to phone them again or do a web chat - hours of your life wasted for nothing ... It's looking very unlikely I will keep it as it can't hold onto the 5g signal with any reliability. That wouldn't be so much of an issue if the 4g had sensible speeds but it just crawls ...

It's the first time WiFi has been quicker than wired connection here!
A real headache of a day. I'm going to see how it runs tomorrow. Any losing of 5g signal and I will be going with router to local Three store - if they can't help I will cancel. Thankfully I am only on a 30 day contract!

In addition to variable speeds, the worst thing is when it loses the 5g signal and goes to 3g / 4g which is completely unusable.
I'm now very pessimistic it's going to work out for me. Reliability is key.
