It's "tits with dragons" as Ian Mcshane once quipped What's not to like.. As long as it's not "Dragons with tits." That would be a step too far.

That's underselling it, though. It has some incredibly powerful dramatic moments, too.

Ok I get the feeling you rather like it Martin!
I could try season 1 on Amazon and see how I get on with it.

Thanks. I think I may have forgotten Unforgotten will check it out.. It's the sort of telly that made British drama famous. The fact that it stars Nicola Walker doesn't hurt, and the rest of the cast is absolutely top class too. Nicola Walker does my head in, can't watch her, she does that,...... pause........ for..... effect......when ......... she talks - it's so false and bloody annoying ( to me anyway ), I think she just have been told not to speak so fast when she was being taught at acting school, so she's manufactured this stilted way of speaking 🙄

A " normal" person doesn't speak as if they know exactly which word is coming next all of the time. I think it makes her sound more natural, and less like an actress, which adds to the realism, especially in "Forgotten." At times it can feel more like a documentary than a drama. That's just me though.

Tin Star, Star Trek: Discovery and Designated Survivor all finished so I have space for another series.

Watching Martin Clunes Doc in Manhunt..
Looking at the work of Colin Sutton, who was the senior investigating officer in the hunt for Levi Bellfield, the killer of Marsha McDonnell, Amelie Delagrange and Milly Dowler in the early 2000s.
Struggling a bit to get over the Doc Martin connection though.

I've just watched episode one of "Manhunt," starring Martin Clunes. It's based on the true story of how serial killer Levi Bellfield was apprehended. Among his victims, you may remember, was 13-year-old Milly Dowler It's an excellent bit of British telly so far. (I'm watching episode 2/3 as I'm writing this, episode 3 is tonight, Tuesday 08-01-19) I have to say I was dubious, mostly because I'm not a huge "Martin-Clunes-as-a-dramatic-actor" fan, but he strikes just the right note for me, this time. Definitely recommended. It reminds me a little of "Code of a Killer," which was also based on a true story. It told the tale of Alec Jeffreys' discovery of DNA fingerprinting and its introductory use by Detective David Baker in catching the double murderer Colin Pitchfork. If you missed it then try to catch it - David Threlfall and John Simm starred. Both stories start with us knowing the final outcomes so they need to be good to hold our attention. Code of a Killer was good, Manhunt is good.

Yes, we got more into manhunt as it went on. Justice was done! Didn't recall Surrey missing a video tape in evidence review and them losing much time due to that.. Were the French parents really that understanding? French police must be shite

Were the French parents really that understanding? French police must be shite One reason I'm not so keen on France. From what I have heard their multiple police forces are not good Interesting seeing the different approaches of the French police on the Tour de France - good in parts. Last couple of years worse. and the Vuelta, Tour of Spain - those guys were *not* taking prisoners. Saw many a spectator hit and or bundled out of the way

These arrived today... I saw most of The X Files season 11, but I know I missed a couple of episodes, but the new Twin Peaks I haven't seen at all.

I watched all of the X Files until their long hiatus. I didn't like the new ones afterwards.
You should treat yourself to the complete Banshee. You will not regret it.

There are several of the "new" X-Files that I consider classics. " Mulder and Scully Meet the Were-Monster" from season 10 (a.k.a. "The Event Series") is one, and from season 11 there are " Rm9sbG93ZXJz" and if I'm remembering correctly, " The Lost Art of Forehead Sweat." Mulder and Scully Meet the Were-Monster is right up there with one of my all-time favourites (from season 5) " The Post-Modern Prometheus." You may remember it. It was filmed in black and white, owed a lot to the original Frankenstein, and ended up with Cher, singing "Walking on Memphis." Oh, and Jerry Springer played himself in it too. Banshee is still priced at over fifty quid for the four-series set, and a lot more if you buy them individually, so that one can wait for a while.

Gosh yes, I had forgotten that one. Season 5 was in 1998, no wonder!
